raccoons fascinate me

actually, a LOT of animals fascinate me...

the truth is, a lotta animals just aren't out to get you as you might believe; a lot of them simply are "defensive;" mess with them and they'll get all over you. leave them alone and watch them from a distance, or approach them cautiously, and they won't bother you.

i think the love's partially due to a lotta things; some of these being that i have always loved animals... loved watching how they react in certain situations, trying to understand what is their mentality...

part of it also comes from the appreciation of a god who created them simply cause that's the way he wanted them to be.

so it was very nice to see a buncha raccoons during retreat; i was surprised on the walk back from the beach on saturday night w/matthew that he also likes animals, and yes, raccoons a lot too. we saw one near the trash cans, and instead of trying to chase it away, we just stopped and watched it.

heh, i wonder if they legally sell raccoons as pets.

anyways, some facts off the top of my heads on raccoons.

-they wash their food before they eat it because it actually helps shrink the food size so they can just gulp it(remembered this from way back)

-they're often seen as scavengers, but they'll eat whatever; insects, birds, frogs, to name a few

-they often seem to be very inquisitive; almost like the way dogs act; the raccoon me and matt were looking at seemed to be wandering at random around the campfire site, even though the trash can was only in one spot; we can only figure that it was pawing and sniffing all sorts of smells and following them; quite interesting indeed.

if you wanna read more into them
