pre-tribulation rapture my ass

i remember how the simpsons this past sunday was on the pre-tribulation rapture...

based on the study i've done, i firmly believe that the idea of a pre-tribulation rapture is false and contradicts the bible...

well, it's now official

good luck, larry brown, i think i'll miss the 2 years you decided to play as the pistons' coach... those were some good times of your team defying the odds against the rest of the league...

in my eyes, larry brown is currently the best bball coach in the league, and it got accentuated when he was the leader of the pistons, a team many thought would die when they faced against the laker foursome... a team many thought would die to the combo of shaq and dwade... a team w/no superstar...

this decision to let him go was based basically off of his health... i mean, if they knew larry brown could coach all season, they'd probably let him stay... i'm kinda sad that they couldn't let him stay, but then think about it from the organization's standpoint... if they have a terrific regular season, but then brown's health fails him and they have gary heard to coach them during the playoffs, think they're going anywhere? it's like going 90% strong, but then failing at the 10% where it matters the most.

this reminds me so much of lakers when they lost to the pistons, then had to decide whether to choose kobe or shaq; they chose IMO, the player which would last longer than the player who was simply better.

but we'll have to wait til regular season pops around to see how the pistons cope; hopefully flip's still good enough to coach the pistons all the way back to the finals...

i mean...

the person they're letting go is ONLY larry play the right way brown, right?!?!? :D

some weird dreams of mine...

the other night i had some dream... kinda hard to remember, but i remember seeing a large spider, but with tiny, thin legs... yet i was freaked to death...

i have not be scared of spiders for a long time... used to be so scared of them when i was young, but somewhere along the line i got used to it by beginning to appreciate all that they do...

so, that begs the question; am i really just denying the fact that i am still afraid of spiders?

but i can remember the one this night vividly...

i think it was during retreat and college were playing against the adults as usual...

i was in charge of guarding and playing offense against pastor dan...

but all game, i could not box him out... i got down, and pushed my ass into him trying to push him out of the key when i thought the ball was going up, but it took all my strength out of me, and got him nowhere...

and i could not do anything w/my post game on the offensive end either; i couldn't push him anywhere...

interestingly enough, i woke up with the bedsheets in total disarray... mustve pushed hard enough for something else to happen...

begging the question...

is pastor dan really fat, do i really suck, or do i really need to bulk up?

i'm also gonna post a new post everytime i switch a topic, consider how i have a tendency to go in-depth; unless my post is ultra-short. that way it'll be easier to see what i'm writing and only read what you want to read. (after this post)

anyways, i'll be trying to figure out how to use lei-fei, kage, and aoi next for vf. maybe shun instead of kage, or aoi. gonna learn to use the monk, cause i always get owned by him since i don't know much about him, only that he's linear, so i always end up trying to evade like crazy, only to eat attacks for failed evades, as well as getting parried all over the place. and quite frankly, he's a lot more powerful in combo damage than i take him to be, so it'd be good; besides, i like akira, sarah, lau, and gonna learn to learn jacky, but after a while, it's like they almost play the same, w/little sublities here and there; strike/defend until you get an advantage, then go for a combo starter. lei's also strong, but colorful enough that you have to switch between stances all the time to play him well. and kage's a pretty good character, and can be played in a variety of ways.

davis is still hot as ever... and it's 8:00 PM right now! how i manage to stomach the heat on my bare, sweat-glistening back without complaining i will never know... i keep attributing my ability to tolerate cold winters and hot summers back to when i used to be on the swimming team, but that's been a WHILE back. i guess it's just one of the many ways god's shone his blessings on me; i count them whenever i feel in awe of what god has done for me(and i can count a LOT), and yet it also makes me wonder how i can use them to further his kingdom by using them to their full potential.

i still love cats; was able to pet and rub one today; saratoga west allows no dogs, but cats are ok, so occasionally i see them. i love the black and white cats the most. at first i thought it was scared of me, but after i walked back to it a second time, it walked up to me, and so i gave it a long backrub. i thought it enjoyed it, cause it started rolling along the ground and stuff.

i should try playing pick-up at the arc sometime... it would be good for my health, and have to get in shape for retreat... although we're having at a different place this year... so it might not be bball this time. but the bball would still be good. i need to tone up my 1-on-1 D and post play... azn ballers who are exclusive sac and la fans better fear the long arms of prince :D (i think about how what i used to like in bball when i was younger and it's like a complete turnaround; i used to like the quick guards who always shot well and dunked all the time, and now, i flat-out prefer the patient, smart, big man type stuff)

iTunes apparently thinks it's funny that they would rather let their customers dl their music in a different format than everybody else(.wma), and so even though i legally own a song, i can't convert it to another format so my windows media player can play the songs...

iTunes = overrated... napster's much better...

the media player takes up so much space on my cpu...

i'm still holding out hope that brown continues to coach detroit in the next nba season...

however, if they part, i REALLY hope this is not due to chauncy billups being at odds with brown...

i remember that was the reason why brown left the sixers in the first place; ai constantly showed up to practices late...

i mean, chauncy's had tremendous odds trying to play as a point guard to get people involved, but i think he's really trying... he acknowledges that everytime after the two get into heated arguments... and everytime the pistons get a win, you see just how valuable he can be as a scorer and a person who sets up his team's offense. not to mention his great defense and modest attitude.

flip is not a bad coach, in fact he's a GREAT coach... i believe that... but you do have to believe if brown leaves and he comes to detroit, that he will have some big shoes to fill...

i can't remember exactly what year this was, but do you remember the year we hosted senior night and tim chose "how to be a player" as our nightly saturday video? and that eventually everybody drifted out except for jerm?

i remembered that prior to every youth in the youth group gathering in the pool room to watch that, the entire room was deserted cause i was hogging the ps2.

i remembered that there was only one other person in the room, and that was mike.

there were two tvs in the room side-by-side; he was on the one on the left, with an n64 plugged in playing smash bros, and i was on the right with the ps2 plugged in playing tekken tag.

good times...

i can't believe it took me so long to REALLY realize why akira's such a beast in vf4 series.

if you gain an advantage of more than 2 frames, but don't have a throw guarenteed, like from connecting a punch or blocking a poke from your opponent, you have the basic strike/throw guessing game.

at this point, you can either stick out a quick poke like an elbow if you think the opponent will try to do a throw escape or strike back, or try for a throw if you think they'll just sit and guard.

the opponent of course can get around that by doing an evading double throw escape w/guard.

now, everybody has a huge damaging combo starter at around 16-18 frames(except lau i think)... it's NOT for sticking out when your P hits or the d+P counters. it's for doing when you expect the opponent to evade; you delay your attack and let the opponent evade first, that way their evade will be a failed evade, which isn't fast, and can't allow blocking, plus any attack will track it; in this case, your big damage combo starter.

so you might think with that huge risk, that it's better to try something like a d+P instead when disadvantaged, given that in most cases, the worst scenario is that you eat an elbow and are placed in this situation again or something like that, right?

well, not against akira; if he thinks you're not going for E-DTE-G or G-DTE, but a d+P or another attack, he can just bust out the good ol f,f,f+P; about 20% gone on normal hit, 1/3rd gone on counter. plus, it's safe on block. nobody else gets this option; well, very few; others can do other stuff, but this is so basic, yet so powerful.

so akira basics really boil down to:

1)get advantage
2a)if they E-DTE-G, delay df,df+P or mix up throw
2b)if they fight back to avoid delayed attack, f,f,f+P
3)use b,f+P after a successful evade
4)use FC,b,f+P after blocking a low or after a TR
5)use SPoD(love this move), b,f+P+K, or throw against a rising opponent
6)if you want to attack to beat a throw attempt if disadvantaged, use d+P, df,df+P or SPoD

mix up some df+P+K in there with some FC,f+P:P's and you're set.

when i live on my own, i would like to own BOTH a cat and a dog...

i seriously love both types of creatures, and really would not be able to decide which one i would want to get if i had to choose one... both bring their own unique style to a household... it takes more to love a cat than a dog though, IMO; almost everybody who owns a pet's a dog lover.

the dog requires a LOT of attention; there's some days when you just don't wanna be touched! but rewards you with a pet that's extremely loyal, friendly, cares about you, usually always smiling, etc.

the cat can be a self-conceited ass, can never be found when you want it to be around, never really wants to play w/you, silent as hell too. but i see a lot of myself in the way a cat behaves, and thus admire it for the way it is. if you treat it well, much like a dog, it WILL hang with you. it just usually doesn't go out of its way to be with you; you'll probably never be able to take your cat out for a walk or anything like that.

honestly though, i'd just like to see the way they interact w/each other; contrary to what you used to believe growing up, not ALL dogs chase cats like their enemies. some play w/each other, and some even take up habits of the other if they live w/each other.

but it's also interesting, because, like i hinted, people take after either the characteristic of a dog, or a cat. now, the person who's a dog in god's kingdom will look towards his master's happiness as his ultimate source of happiness; it's not about him. the cat however, takes to himself and thinks he's the center of the universe; in order for god to be happy, the cat must be happy.

which makes me wonder; does that mean i need to be more talkative to others to be considered a "dog" in the kingdom of heaven? how about missions; necessary to take in order to be a dog? or maybe it's not so much WHAT i'm doing, soasmuch whether i'm WILLING to do whatever...

btw, i wouldn't be thinking about christianity this way; it feels too simplistic; i actually got a sermon much like this today.
