creatures that i have actually seen fairly up-close @davis:

squirrel(tree and ground)
western scrub-jay(bluejay)
mallard duck(plus, you'll see the atypical domestic duck; y'kno, the totally white+orange beak type; that's from accidently breeding w/a domestic duck)
bushtit
yellow-billed magpie
canada geese
black-tailed jackrabbit- RARE, but saw once, at night
peacock - RARE, but saw once in broad daylight(beautiful i might add; wished i had a digital camera... i think i'll never forget it)

yes, i know we have cows, esp gesticulated(is that the right term?) cows too, but i have not personally been up close w/one and petted it... would be nice to do though.

but not during spring, cause anybody living in davis knows well enough that that's when the nice "spring aroma" comes around...
