aw... shoot... i had this good philosophical thought in the morning, and now in the nighttime when i'm intending to write it down here, i forgot. ever hate that? you've got a good train of thought goin, and suddenly "what the hell was i thinking about?" and you can't remember what you were thinking no matter how hard you try.

wait, wait, it's coming back.

often, when we have a fear of something tangible, like for say instance, water, we freeze up when we're near it and try to get away from it as soon as possible. being able to overcome fear is being able to be calm in the face of adversity, in the face of fear, uncertainity, doubt, what not. why do people who can't swim drown? they are afraid of the water and so thrash violently. i remember my early years when i just was afraid of the water in that i thought if i let go of the edge i'd drown. but it's a gradual process(drowning); when i was able to realize that, to be calm, i was able to get somewhere, to let go of the poolside and swim. often ppl drown cause they get so hectic in the water that they start breathing in water. when you learn to be calm, to let go, to stare trouble right in the face with calm, you'll make it out ok. peace is one of the fruits of the Spirit, so yes, it is important to keep a cool and be optimistic about everything you do. and i'm trying to teach myself that day by day, especially in a place where work is hectic. (to be honest this thought is a lot less appealing than when i was thinking about it sitting on the can this morning... a thousand thoughts were racing about my head thinking about it)

i realized some time ago that if the hair between my eyes(there is very tiny fuzz there if you look closely) grew more rapidly, i'd have a unibrow... freaky.

"i think that no matter who you are or what you go through you have good days and you have bad days, and it's not those good or bad days that make you as the person but it's how you go about dealing with those days"
-Paul McCoy, vocalist for 12 Stones, on MTV
put another way, if you're optimistic, you're gonna act optimistic in the face of trouble. if you're patient, you're gonna be patient when work overloads you. if you're calm, you're gonna be that way under pressure.
