random ish
ok, that last post took me a while to write, but i'm glad i finally wrote it; btw, the website that i got the info off of was
antichrist conspiracy.com
off of the free ebook. i basically detailed what the author stated(he gave the verses in his book, but i thought his explanation wasn't very good enough to get it on the 1st go; i tried to do so in a way to make it more easy to understand)
yea, i know it sounds weird, but if you know me, that was the same ebook that showed me a buncha other stuff people don't seem to realize in christianity; in due time, i'll try to take a look at a lot more of the topics brought up in there.
i know i wanted to look into how the other versions of the bible are false; i'll get around to it; school's just bogging me down, that's all. just gotta remember to actually do it.
but for sure, expect me to post something similar to last post, except for "the fact that man is predestined and doesn't have a free will"
anyways, if you ever wanna link to that long post i did, and not my actual site:
linky

sports
i can't believe espn mag rated dwayne wade as a "10"; shaq's justified; ditto w/kg and tim duncan; they gave lebron a 10 b/c they couldn't go 11 :D but i bet they just did it so that it looks like the overall score makes them look like they're as strong as detroit; cause technically, they're supposed to be. but 10 is supposed to mean absolute dominant; like nobody can touch your offense when on the ball, you play some nasty man d and help d, and you branch out, doing other stuff on offense, making others better. dwayne wade is more like a 9. maybe even 8. ben wallace was rated a 9, which makes me wonder, if he shot the ball well, would that put him at 10; cause seriously, every other aspect of his game is not just good, it's DOMINANT. except for his 1-on-1; good, but not great. just his frees. billups, considering his solid play, should probably be a 9, not an 8.
i really do like jermaine, despite being a pistons fan. he's a great all-around player, and despite that nasty rush punch he pulled on the pistons fan last season(bryan FUUUURY!!!), he's an all-around nice guy. i just wished he'd look a lot more like he does in the nike shox commercials; dunk-aholic 2-handed hammerdown w/shot bloxiness. he relies too much on a fade-away jumper; sorta like kg w/o that spin. take it to the rim more buddy!
shoot, i was gonna say something else related to sports... but my head just went blank.
oh, wait, now i remember; not related to sports...
so i went to redrum burger yesterday
i only eat out in davis like once a week, and when i do, at a fast food place; basically, to save time. if i want a home-cooked meal, i do it myself.
cause i had a 2-for-1 coupon; 5.99 plus tax for two 1/2-lb cheeseburgers w/everything on them... one for dinner, one for today's lunch.
and usually it's a white guy/girl at the counter taking your order. and they're playing some 90s heavy rock in the background, like tool.
but that time, it was a tall black dude. still tool playing. he started humming to it as he was ringing up my order. (hmm, not very "black," my subconscious tells me)
then i get the receipt; ykno how receipts sometimes list the name of the guy at the counter?
"bruce"
i had to chuckle.
if you don't play tekken, you might not get it; i thought about asking him whether his last name was "irvin." decided not.

What day did Christ die, and what day did he rise again?
It is quite interesting to see how easily people come to believe something they are told within the church without researching things for themselves.
Common belief amongst Christians is that roughly 2000 years ago(more like 1970 or so years), Jesus died on a Friday morning during Passover, and then arose on Sunday morning.
What I wrote below, I basically read from somewhere off the web, and the 1st time I read it, I was shocked. But I sat down, thought about it, diagramed it, and realized it must be true. It all makes sense.
Now, what I’m about to say seems to be pretty controversial, but I encourage you to not debate this by questioning how skewed my ideas are from common belief, but by countering my arguments from the bible itself; I believe that the Bible is the absolute truth from God’s mouth, and that God can’t lie. If you think I’m wrong, show me in the Bible where I’m wrong.
First of all, why what we believe is wrong:
Jesus stated that he would remain dead for 3 full days; that’s 3 days and 3 nights; read the following passage:
Matthew 12:40
That means Jesus could not have died on the supposedly Good Friday and risen on Easter Sunday; if he died on Friday morning, that would mean to fulfill the biblical prophecy, he would have to arise on Monday night(he would have spent Friday night, all of Saturday and Sunday, and Monday morning dead in order to fulfill the prophecy). If he died on Friday night, then he would have to arisen on Tuesday morning. Likewise, if he arose on Sunday morning, he would have died on Wednesday night(all of Thursday, Friday and Saturday spent dead), and if he arose on Sunday night, that would mean he would have had to died on Thursday morning. There are only 1 and a half days that exist between Friday morning and Sunday morning; Friday night and all of Saturday.
Time to look some verses up:
So then, how can we know what day Jesus actually died and what day he actually arose? The Bible does not in plain English state what day Jesus died, and what day he arose.
However, the Bible DOES infer what day Jesus died, and what day he arose, but you have to put two and two together; it does not state in any single passage when he died and arose.
We do know that Jesus died during the day; perhaps either morning or afternoon. That of course, helps us to know that Jesus must have arisen during the night.
Matthew 27:45-50
We also know Jesus died on the Passover; that’s a fact. Because there’s numerous passages that support this belief.
Matthew 26:2; the Son of Man will be crucified on the feast of the passover
John 13:1; again, the last supper took place during the feast of the Passover; Jesus would later die that night
John 18:39; Pilate offers to release one of the prisoners to the Jews, which means that the day that Jesus was crucified was the Passover
What many people don’t seem to know though, is that there were more than 2 Sabbaths that occurred during the Passover at the time of Jesus’ death; yes; two. People don’t even know that Passover coincides at the same time with another holiday that God commanded his people to observe:
Exodus 12:17-20
So we see that Passover is also known as the Feast of Unleavened Bread and spans from the 14th of the 1st month until the 21st of the same month; that makes for a total of 8 days; count them:
14(1) 15(2) 16(3) 17(4) 18(5) 19(6) 20(7) 21(8)
Leviticus says essentially the same thing, but in another way:
Leviticus 23:4-8
It says that the feast of unleavened bread follows the Passover(which occurs on the 14th) and consists of 7 days; the very 1st day, or the 15th of the 1st month, no work is to be done. The 7th day, or the 21st of the 1st month, no work is to be done. According to the definition of a Sabbath, that would make those Sabbath days.
Leviticus 23:2-3
In addition, remember that the Israelites were still required by God to observe the weekly Sabbath on Saturday during those days. Since a full week is 7 days, and the Feast of Unleavened Bread spans 7 days, That means, the Feast of Unleavened Bread could have 3 Sabbaths, with the weekly Sabbath falling somewhere in between the 2 Sabbaths observed during the feast.
This is why in many passages before Jesus’ death, the Passover is referred to as the Preparation; it was also the preparation day for the feast of unleavened bread.
Mark 15:42-47; the preparation is known as the day before the Sabbath
Luke 22:1-8; the feast of unleavened bread is also known as the Passover, which is the day which Jesus ate with his disciples, then later died
John 19:31; the preparation is the day before the Sabbath(a high day), which is why the Jews wanted to take down the bodies, since they could not do work the next day
John 19:14; it was called the preparation OF the Passover, not preparation FOR the Passover, which means that it had the time during the Passover when one prepares for the feast of unleavened bread
Unfortunately, that still does not enable us to pinpoint the location of the weekly Sabbath during the feast, which would greatly help us know which day Jesus died and rose again.
We do know however, that seemingly a contradiction in the Bible exists after Jesus died; read these two passages.
Luke 23:53 – 24:3
Mark 16:1-6
If only 1 Sabbath existed that week, the women couldn’t possibly buy the spices AFTER they’ve prepared them, and God would be lying. But if 2 Sabbaths existed that week, then the women could buy the spices and then prepared them; they bought them after the 1st Sabbath of the feast, and then prepared them before the weekly Sabbath(Saturday). Then, on the very 1st day of the week in the morning(Sunday), they went to Jesus’ grave, only to find that he had already arisen.
With those facts at hand, we can piece together when Jesus died, and when he arose again.
14th of 1st month - Passover:
-Jesus dies in the daytime; he is taken off of the cross, and buried
-Jesus spends a half day in the tomb; 1 night
15th of 1st month – 1st day of feast of unleavened bread; also the 1st of the 2 of the special Sabbaths observed during that time:
-Jesus spends a full day in the tomb; 1 day and 2 nights have elapsed
-The women rest during that day
16th of 1st month – 2nd day of feast of unleavened bread:
-Women buy and prepare the spices so they can perfume Jesus’ dead body
-Jesus spends a full day in the tomb; 2 days and 3 nights have elapsed
17th of 1st month – 3rd day of feast of unleavened bread:
-Women do not go to tomb; they rest, observing the Sabbath; the feast of unleavened bread spans 7 days, and 7 days have not yet elapsed, so this must be the weekly Sabbath, which would make this day Saturday
-Jesus spends the day in the tomb, but only 1 day, not the night, completing the time he said he would be dead; 3 days and 3 nights, then arises and leaves tomb.
-That means Jesus arose on Saturday night.
18th of 1st month – 4th day of feast of unleavened bread:
-Women go to tomb, only to find that Jesus has arisen
Note that this also makes sense; if Jesus arose on Sunday morning, it is quite plausible that the women who came to the tomb would see Jesus arisING, as opposed to an empty tomb.
So, knowing what day Jesus arose(Saturday night), we can now work backward to Passover(Saturday morning, all of Friday, all of Thursday, Wednesday night), and find out that Jesus died on Wednesday, during the day.
And all this makes sense and coincides with that the Bible states:
Between Wednesday morning, when Jesus died, to Saturday night, when he arose, there are 3 full days; Wednesday night, all of Thursday, all of Friday, and Saturday afternoon. Those 3 days, Jesus spent in the middle of the earth(presumably hell), as he said he would. Amazing eh?
We should be observing Saturday and not Sunday.
(I wanted to add another section stating what Easter really was; during that time, it was a pagan religion, but that’s beyond the scope of this subject, and besides, I don’t have any hard evidence at the time to support this)
Ok, so what am I supposed to do with this information?
Treating weekly Saturdays with more reverence than Sunday’s a good start; I don’t mean to not go to Sunday church and do what you do on Sundays, but inward, have more respect for Saturdays and what you do during that day.
Well, if you want to be anal, you can start by observing Jesus’ death on Wednesday, and his resurrection on Saturday. As opposed to Friday and Sunday.
Or, observe his death on Passover, and his resurrection 3 days later. Consult a Jewish calendar for that.
However, we need to realize that God does not judge us by which days we observe, but by our faith. So rejoice that God rose on the Sabbath, but use this knowledge to draw closer to God, instead of lording it over those who don’t know.

perhaps if your opponent TRs after a knockdown, and you recover fast enough, you can whiff the 1st hit of certain delayable strings before they fully can move(ie evade it), and see how they react. if they try to attack you, bust out the 2nd hit and let it counterhit; this is a good strat to try with lau's b+p+k(whiff),p, which on counterhit becomes a combo starter. ditto w/jacky's b+p(whiff),p, and akira's df+p+k+g(whiff),p. for akira, try this after f,f,f+p(MC)-> FC,f+p:p.
once they become aware of this strategy, they may evade or guard coming out of the tech-roll, which means you are free to throw them or pressure them with further attacks, even though most of these 2-hit strings actually leave you at a disadvantage on block. interestingly enough, this will make your throw become delayed should you try that, since you actually recover slower after all those moves compared to your opponent.
---
with akira, try to learn how to do f,f+p(MC)-> DLC consistently in closed stance against non-heavyweights; it will do 63; 4 pts short of the infamous 67 pt f,f,f+p(MC) combo. and does not carry as much risk as an evaded f,f,f+p. f,f+p(MC)-> AS3-> LDA also does 67 pts, but it can be tech-rolled, reducing the damage to 55.

lemme explain to you why my attitude towards the kings has progressively gotten sour over about the last 2-3 years
(seeing how i just finished my 1st midterm, i figure i'd give myself a break by releasing these words before going back to work)
it's actually a combination of things...
i used to like them in 2000 ish, but then things gradually declined...
and it's not due to the fact that they don't dominate the west like before; wins never factor into how i like a team(too much that is)... TRUST ME; i liked the warriors last year before they even got davis; that should tell you how i feel.
it's just that over time, it's dawned on me how much i dislike their playstyle, the way kings play-by-play announcers go about each game, and their fans.
now, don't get me wrong; there's things about their offense that are good for any basketball team; they have great shooters, and they emphasize a very unselfish way of playing offense. very few teams utilize big men as passers, but the kings do.
but they totally neglect the physical aspect of basketball; team defense, individual defense, rebounding, and post-up play. now, maybe that's just cause i'm a pistons fan that i say this, but surely you can't expect a team to win without any defense, can you? you can't expect to be on fire every night, but you can expect your d to be the same regardless of what night you play as long as you want it. now, you may say that's the limitations of the athletic abilities of some of the players on the kings team, like divac(in past), webber or peja, but i say, it's also in the mentality aspect. ben wallace shouldn't be able to block shots and outrebound a lot of the centers in the league since he's so short, but he does it, because he WANTS it and plays like he wants it(and i'm not just talking about help d; watch him, and you'll notice he's not that bad of a 1-on-1 defender). my point is that the guys on this team don't want it. except maybe bibby. and skinner. tyson chandeler wants it; bowen wants it; ak-47 wants it; tim duncan wants it; kg wants it; jermaine wants it. all of the pistons starting 5 want it. ron artest wants it. i believe shaq also wants it. (yao ming doesn't, sorry jerm :D)
part of why i may dislike their fans flows off of their playstyle; i get a feeling that everybody who's NOT a sacramento native who is a kings fan does not appreciate the physical aspect of basketball.
but if you haven't lived in yolo county, and haven't watched kings television on comcast sportsnet, then you may never understand why i hate the announcers.
basically, watching kings is not on fsn up here; it's on comcast.
and i just generally dislike how they give the presentation of each game.
maybe it's cause they're white, but then espn's commentators are white, but do a great job... of commentating
they don't outright say the team they are playing against suck, but it's all in the subliminal stuff:
-they never show replays of good plays from the opposing team
-you can tell by their level of voice that they never like the opposing team's plays, ie if bibby nails a clutch 3(OMG! BIBBY DA HERO!) whereas if the opposing team wins in clutch(*mumbles about clutch 3*)
-likewise, if the opposing team does something good, they always shift the discussion to some previous kings play which looked good
-ALWAYS, and i mean ALWAYS, saying stuff about how the ref should have called in favor of the kings(looked like chicago was in the foul circle to me, seems like it should've been defensive foul)
-on top of that, they're just not good commentators; always talking to each other instead of giving a play-by-play until something from the kings goes right
so it's not really a show for BASKETBALL FANS; it's a show for SACRAMENTO FANS. the show's not unbiased at all.
do you get what i'm saying?
i'm not saying i don't appreciate a good play even if it's with a team i loathe; they were showing suns and kings last night, and when i saw a putback by one of the kings, and a great block, i had to yell "OH!" but i also did equally when i saw the suns come right back with a huge block.
so it's not really a show for people who love the game; it's a show for people who are so stuck up about their local team that they can't even see a good play if it passed under their nose.
i mean, lets put it this way; if the warriors got posterized by kobe bryant, i might dislike it, but i'd still appreciate it, and maybe in the spur of the moment, go "OH..."
remember when kobe played against twolves in 2003(the year they lost to the spurs?)? i was watching, and when kobe did that nasty reverse dunk, jon went "OOH!!" when i saw the replay i was thinking that was sick, more sick than the crossover he did against the nuggets. even though we hated the lakers, we saw and appreciated a good play when it was there. if that was sacramento they played against, you'd NEVER get that type of reaction from the announcers if it was the comcast announcers. NE-VAR...
and i'm pretty sure this doesn't occur with other sports channels in other areas; i've seen replays on nba.com where they don't show it from abc or espn or tnt, and the commentator, despite being a commentator for a team who just got posterized, will go "OHHHHH!!!"
so now you understand why i hate the kings.
despite that, they might be a little more defensive this year; less white guys :D
and i like francisco garcia, so who knows...
(of course, i've never gotten cable at home, so i don't know if fsn bay area is like this w/every warriors game, but i doubt it can get as bad as the comcast announcers)
(seeing how i just finished my 1st midterm, i figure i'd give myself a break by releasing these words before going back to work)

but they totally neglect the physical aspect of basketball; team defense, individual defense, rebounding, and post-up play. now, maybe that's just cause i'm a pistons fan that i say this, but surely you can't expect a team to win without any defense, can you? you can't expect to be on fire every night, but you can expect your d to be the same regardless of what night you play as long as you want it. now, you may say that's the limitations of the athletic abilities of some of the players on the kings team, like divac(in past), webber or peja, but i say, it's also in the mentality aspect. ben wallace shouldn't be able to block shots and outrebound a lot of the centers in the league since he's so short, but he does it, because he WANTS it and plays like he wants it(and i'm not just talking about help d; watch him, and you'll notice he's not that bad of a 1-on-1 defender). my point is that the guys on this team don't want it. except maybe bibby. and skinner. tyson chandeler wants it; bowen wants it; ak-47 wants it; tim duncan wants it; kg wants it; jermaine wants it. all of the pistons starting 5 want it. ron artest wants it. i believe shaq also wants it.
(of course, i've never gotten cable at home, so i don't know if fsn bay area is like this w/every warriors game, but i doubt it can get as bad as the comcast announcers)

i stopped watching when it reached 28-7
even by then i was just glacing back and forth from the philly-chargers game and spider-man...
man the niners have no d against the run... it was almost like everytime i switched back to the game the redskins scored another touchdown.
the double cartwheels by portis looked neat though... nobody's really done that for a td dance... not even to.
ow, ow, ow...

tekken
its kinda weird; i'm trying over and over to play the mishimas, but i just can't take them to the next level. basically all my problems stem from the fact that i can't technically use them; i know what to do, but my left hand doesn't cooperate well.
so i'm trying all sorts of weird stuff recently and seeing if it improves my style.
i used to just go with standing up; but since i'm kinda tall, and they use the huge cabinets at the mu, i found that sitting down helps a lot; my crouch dash improved a bit there... so now i'm a lot more brazen in walking into the pool room to take a chair if there's none in front of the tekken 5 machine.
but i still can't do a dewgf... so i'm experimenting with other stuff recently...
i got a fingersleeve for my left pinky, so that it doesn't graze the metal pin next to the joystick and give me a blister as much...
maybe i'll get one of those things at rite aid which holds 2 of your fingers together; that could help me, since i use my ring+middle together...
and then maybe a nike xl fingersleeve for my left index... so that it's less likely to press downward... and simply forward
if i'm on the left side, i usually also have to curve my wrist a bit more outward too.
i'll have to play eugene sometime soon... i know he wants to play me, and it's reciprocal like that...
besides, i would like another person who plays mishimas at the mu as one of his mains and can crouch dash(i'm the only one; eugene did hint to me that he did want to use the mishimas but can't)
now excuse me while i go spend the rest of my friday afternoon wisely...
studying a bit,
meditating on what i should do,
playing a little tekken to stay unrusty...
fyi, b4 i leave
i plan on writing about these biblical topics in my journal sometime soon; i don't have the bible verses right now, but if you believe the bible to be true, well then, wisely interpret what it says as what it says
-did jesus really resurrect on sunday
-perhaps some stuff about predestination

lemme give you an example of how bored davis residents are
there has been a recent stir among davis these past weeks...
so strong a stir, it's divided neighbors, threatened lives...
with enough time, it will crumble the foundations of this wonderful country...
am i referring to whether hurricane katrina aid is sufficient? nope
bush is evil? nope, though we got that quite a bit around election time last school year... stupid berkeley influences; i don't exactly like bush either, but please don't shove it down my throat; besides, we're in ca; that automatically means democrats always win here.
whether the white sox will win the pennant? hah, i wish... davis is sadly not very sports-loving. and the stupid kings and laker fans don't understand how much gs is gonna roll over the west come november(fingers crossed)
no, sadly folks, i'm talking about MEASURE X on the davis ballot...
basically, measure x, if passed by davis voters, will allow the construction of a trader joe's next to south davis' nugget market(it's basically the davis equivalent of whole foods market)...
and i seriously can't believe all the stupid signs that are popping up all over davis are due to this...
because OH NOES! trader joe's chickens that hatch eggs are enclosed off from society! so that means the eggs are SAD eggs! so we can't support measure X! plus, it'll create competition from loyal nugget market goers! now they can't decide whether to buy imported frozen mango chunks from chile at trader joe's or homemade cheese made right in a goat's stomach from nugget! cause we ALL know we need organic food to survive!
etc, etc, etc...
such stupid riffraff.
but then again, maybe the politicians are just taking after the cops here...
i mean, when you can arrest a woman for snoring too loud, or ticket a car for being illegally parked AFTER it's gotten in a traffic accident, what else could you do?
this is davis after all... even the tumbleweeds don't blow too well; they're too sad to move(i've seen some in davis)

vf4 series: kg
kg refers to doing a normal standing roundhouse kick then cancelling it in mid-animation(hence kg, for pressing kick(k), and then guard(g)); the characters who can do this are:
akira
kage
lion
sarah
wolf
there may be more characters who can kg.
the point of doing kg as an offensive tactic is that when the opponent reads an immediate attack-throw game aka nitaku, they can avoid it by doing E-DTE-G. or in certain cases, ARE. kg will force a successful evade to occur(because the cpu will read that you did an attack before they evaded, hence the fast, wide evade will occur), but your character will be free to move. a successful evade is actually SLOWER in recovery; it just doesn't seem like it because the character moves a FAR distance, dodging the opponent's attack.
now the advantage your character gains is not a lot, but if you quickly buffer a high throw, any normal high throw, it is guarenteed; they can of course, key in throw escapes, but that's a different story.
kg-> throw will foil EDTEG and ARE by forcing the opponent to essentially eat a delayed throw, since your throw will come out later, which gives it a very good chance of delaying the throw til the throw escape window has passed.
but you may wonder; couldn't you just do a delayed throw instead? yes and no. this could work vs EDTEG, but kg-> throw can foil ARE, which is its best use.
ARE is all round escape; it is done by doing an evade, then quickly doing a crouch dash. the unsuccessful evade, though slow, CAN be cancelled into a crouch dash, which will avoid high throws. if the evade is successful, the crouch dash will not come out at all, and instead, your character will be free to move and punish.
kg gets around this by forcing an ARE user to remain standing and eat the throw.
case in point, this is why vf4:ft akira users do kg-> spod at large advantage; the successful evade recovery's been increased from vf4:e, giving a guarenteed spod if the akira buffers it perfectly after kg.
kg is also sometimes useful as a defensive tactic; it will foil high throws, while still giving you enough time to block any mid-level attacks. will of course lose to delayed throws.

vf4 series: reverse nitaku
the theory behind this defensive tactic is that you're aiming to beat your opponent's throw attempt; because throws will whiff regardless of when you input your striking attack, you will connect your attack with a 25% damage bonus(counts as mC). with some luck, it will not only beat all throws, but a possible delayed attack attempt if your opponent was trying to hit you out of an unsuccessful dodge(for 50% damage bonus instead). of course, if your opponent tries an immediate attack, you will get countered, but that's actually a fairly good risk to take IF you read a throw from the opponent.
this is partially why you see akira players use spod on large disadvantage, particularily in response to a tick throw attempt; yes, you can go for df,df+p or FC,f+p+k, which yields higher return, but it's a lot slower than hitting out the initial p+k+g component to spod in an instant. speed is of the essence when attempting to beat a tick throw. besides; spod as an mc yields 71 pts, and on MC yields 76 pts, which is not bad. now, if you can do k+g:g consistently though, go for THAT instead; it requires no joystick motions, so it's easy to get out in an instant, it yields much better damage, and is a lot safer too.
so... with that in mind, you might want to consider in a like-minded vein what reverse nitaku moves to use with other characters to beat tick throws; ie moves w/no more than 1 joystick input. of course, if you're not going against tick throws and aim to reverse nitaku, you generally have more time to react, so go for your strongest combo starter.
good reverse nitaku moves vs tick throws:
sarah: k,p or d+p+k,k; both are good, but the k,p can be done faster, but will not hit crouchers, and does less damage
jeff: f+k
lau: df+p+k; will probably lose to delayed strikes though since it's so slow
jacky: p+k,p
pai: k or db+p; k's faster by a TAD, but db+p will give better damage; both can be ducked though
lei: uf+k+g; qcf+p+k won't beat EVERYTHING(although against lau, it comes pretty close :D)
and one more off the top of my head:
kage: df+p (FC,df+p is better, since it WILL beat delayed strikes consistently if you can get it out, but df+p can be done a lot faster)

i can't believe pastor danny's moving on
... out of msm possibly...
it's like he's saying "thanks for taking over and stepping up, now seeya"
... just when i was starting to get to know the guy...
... like actually talked to him...
-----------------
btw broomballing was kinda fun, although it feels weird running on thin ice instead of skating...
heh, afterwards, some of the guys went to in n out, me and eugene had a long chit-chat while the other guys ate...
what did we talk about?
the usual stuff that pertains to us two that seemingly no one else in the church cares about...
basketball, football, hockey, and oh yeah, tekken and fighting games in general.

perhaps the ideal thing for me now is fast once per 2 or 3 months
cause it seems that even 1/month made me think i could do this... and we have no place for pride in christianity right?
but now as i'm sitting here about to end my 3-day fast without solid food(i was originally going to fast from everything but water, but then i drank some ginger ale, so i figured i'd limit it to solid food) in 25 min, i realize just how tired i've felt for the last 36 or so hours... despite going to bed at 12-1 consistently now, and getting up at 7:20 or so ish. there were times where i thought i was going to conk out.
hunger has never really affected me during a fast; you drink water and you're fine. that's not bragging, it's the truth.
i decided to go for 3 days because 3's a special number; as jesus once said, as jonah was in the belly of the whale for 3 DAYS AND 3 NIGHTS, so shall the son of god be in the depths of the earth. and the bible has stated that when we are baptized into christ, we DIE with him, then are RESURRECTED with him.
i haven't gotten any special words of guidance from God though yet concerning my future, which was my original intention of fasting in the 1st place, well, one of the main ones was realizing how little i am without God, and well, we covered the other.
but then again, my fast isn't quite over yet; maybe that's why i haven't gotten any words of wisdom yet; i'm not quite yet "alive" :D
(i think i'll break the fast with a small bowl of spaghetti with mushrooms and olives, and some snickers ice cream)
now, i wonder if this applies to whether i should take up small group leadership or not

good to play after so long
played bball again... after what, like 1 year off?
against some msm guys w/jon; probably cause steve is going away to oregon for his job now, and so i decided hey why not; prob not gonna see him again for a LONG time...
jerm didn't play; he slacked off all day, so he thought he should study.
each game was to 7 pts
so since i haven't been playing for a while, my offense was totally off, as i haven't really been practicing, but my d was there, cause you know how i am, thinking i'm tayshaun prince.
now, keep in mind for some reason steve, brian, andy and peter play in the dark at the nearby park to their apt, so i consider some of these stats to be just RANDOM...
wasn't stat ball of course so i didn't really count anything, but i always count my blocks :D
off the top of my head...
1st game: 2 blocks
-for some reason, i was on fire everytime i was open; i can't remember how many shots i took, but everytime i did, i banked in. started wondering to myself if i was robert horry :D the two blocks i did in this game was just nasty; entire right palm on the ball before the player even got the ball out of his hand. "rt-styles," y'kno... :D
2nd game: 0 blocks
-was too eager to get 1-on-1 blocks without thinking they'd fake, so i suffered a bit... started to get a few rebounds in/tips in the right direction. no points; not that i tried in this game.
3rd game: 2 blocks(3 or 4 if you count the TIINNY tips i made on andy and maybe jon)
-started reminding myself to play like tayshaun, ie don't go for the block unless you're helping or they fake more than 2x. got a bit more rebounds in this game, as i started to box out. no points again.
so, not bad, considering the time i haven't played.
i really should consider playing pick-up at the arc on weekends... maybe it could help me a bit on offense. plus, i'd love to block some laker and king fans who think offense is all that.
my goal is to be able to take the ball in like i'm tayshaun, to fadeaway like timothy ang(i'd say kg but tim banks), to lock them down on d like tayshaun, and to block like i'm big ben, not like i'm rt :D

my goal is to be able to take the ball in like i'm tayshaun, to fadeaway like timothy ang(i'd say kg but tim banks), to lock them down on d like tayshaun, and to block like i'm big ben, not like i'm rt :D

wish i'd seen monday night football this week
heard it was a good, close game...
and you know how i like the steelers' d... and big ben...
had a huge highlight too from the steeler's interception into hurdle...
good news is, despite ben's hyperextension, it doesn't look as bad as it was originally on video.

team hate eh?
ever find it pathetic how some people only root for the teams they hate during playoffs of any sport? ie "hey, next round, who do i hate more, lemme root against them"
i'm not saying there aren't teams you hate... but really, you should be rooting for the team you like MORE...
but wait, isn't that the same?
nope. it's not.
think about that the next time you watch a sport...
otherwise, i call you out for being a "true" sports fan to the sport you're watching... you're just a sad, pathetic person deep inside.

note to self
don't worry so much about getting DEWGF, or even EWGF consistently if you can't do hellsweep or cd+3 on command or do followup to hellsweep on command...
you also tend to play weaker on the right side still, so work on that side more...
start using all fingers on your right hand to play the game, not just the index and middle; put your thumb on left kick, and your ring on right kick... that should help you a bit; get used to doing hellsweep with the ring, and possibly the cd+3 with the thumb
also consider using only thumb and middle finger to cd on the right side, and the index and middle to cd on the left side; maybe your cd will improve; why not...
and start using sidestep more in the game; you're still not using that enough, or simple low pecks OCCASIONALLY

my mcb 162 professor is the worst lecturer i've ever had
his notes are terrible... very small, scratchy letters on the chalkboard, goes all over the place instead of being organized, or at the very least, putting his notes on the powerpoint that he uses anyhow... making it very hard to copy what he says and writes... i was literally going to scream out of frustration in the middle of class, thank God i didn't...
the rest of the quarter better not be like today...
the good side is that my tape recorder comes in handy for classes such as these, but i'm still pretty annoyed...
some other student summed it best up when i overheard her walking out...
"that is the worst lecturer ever"

btw, remember how it was told you "it doesn't whether you win or lose; it's how you play the game?"
or was it "it doesn't matter whether you win or lose; it's whether you have fun?"
i consider that mentality rubbish...
because it does not force you to play hard...
or for that instance... to play correctly...
i understand that when we were kids, that was drilled into our heads to keep us from becoming sore losers... to keep us from psychologically breaking down after every close loss...
and that's important. game is STILL a game.
but i guarentee you will get more out of whatever games you play when play with a disciplined mindset like you want it.
just don't kick yourself *too much* over the head for every blowout, loss, and close loss...
learn from your mistakes, practice, practice, and come back and take some more...
until you can win...

tekken 5's fun
so i'm playing against some ppl tekken 5 @the mu earlier today...
and i'm getting slightly better at devil jin, as i'm learning to space more and not blindly rush or keep backdashing, and it's showing with the wins... but it still really peeves me how i can't wavedash, or do dewgf... AT ALL... i can't even nail ewgf or hellsweep consistently...
and in one scenario vs someone playing law i'm pretty much dead, but launched my opponent, and could've finished off my opponent in one round with a juggle combo, but ended up botching the combo, and the opponent falls prematurely to the ground... gets an "OH!" outta me, cause i know i'm pretty much done... and i proceed to hold down/back, dreading the wake-up game...
then he gets up with a low kick and i block it, which staggers him, then gratefully take my guarenteed uppercut launcher on him and then finish the juggle and his lifebar while yelling "WwWWWwOOOoOOOOOooOooooOoooOO!!!!" to noone in particular, just really glad i could make a comeback...
and in another scenario it's down to round 3(damn mu has 2/3 setting, not 3/5; but hey; at least it's only 1 token/quarter), and i'm against lee chaolan, and i'm leading by a bit in lifebar, like maybe 50%, and my opponent's about 20%, and we're both just backdashing and dashing back and forth around midrange... both of us are kinda testy to rush in and attack... then i decide for the weirdest reason to use dj's long-range laser... i mean, it's a scrub move; slow as hell, can be ducked/sidestepped, devil jin's totally open to punishment, but i thought it wasn't a bad gamble; we were fullscreen, so there was no way he could close the distance that fast after dodging it and hit me hard... at least it would keep the game from being so tense at longrange like that... i throw it out...
and KO him...
i couldn't stop laughing...

i saw this receipe on tv's "america's test kitchen"
cause my home's cable-less tv has nothing else to soak up during saturday mornings... except kqed cooking shows :D
it looked like noodles with chili and cheese over it, and some kidney beans splotted on the side... for its uniqueness(chili on noodles?), i thought maybe in the future i could try it on a saturday night
from their website...
Cincinnati Chili
Choose a relatively plain tomato sauce-nothing too spicy or herbaceous. To warm the kidney beans, simmer them in water to cover for several minutes and then drain.
Serves 6 to 8
Chili
2 teaspoons table salt or more to taste
1 1/2 pounds ground chuck
2 tablespoons vegetable oil
2 medium onions , chopped fine (about 2 cups)
2 medium cloves garlic , minced or pressed through a garlic press (about 2 teaspoons)
2 tablespoons chili powder
2 teaspoons dried oregano
2 teaspoons cocoa
1 1/2 teaspoons ground cinnamon
1/2 teaspoon cayenne pepper
1/2 teaspoon ground allspice
1/4 teaspoon ground black pepper
2 cups low-sodium chicken broth
2 cups water
2 tablespoons cider vinegar
2 teaspoons dark brown sugar
2 cups tomato sauce
hot pepper sauce
Accompaniments
1 pound spaghetti , cooked, drained, and tossed with 2 tablespoons of unsalted butter
12 ounces sharp cheddar cheese , shredded
1 can red kidney beans (15-ounce), drained, rinsed, and warmed
1 medium white onion , chopped fine (about 1 cup)
1. FOR THE CHILI: Bring 2 quarts of water and 1 teaspoon of the salt to a boil in a large saucepan. Add the ground chuck, stirring vigorously to separate the meat into individual strands. As soon as the foam from the meat rises to the top (this takes about 30 seconds) and before the water returns to a boil, drain the meat into a strainer and set it aside.
2. Rinse and dry the empty saucepan. Set the pan over medium heat and add the oil. When the oil is warm, add the onions and cook, stirring frequently, until the onions are soft and browned around the edges, about 8 minutes. Add the garlic and cook until fragrant, about 1 minute. Stir in the chili powder, oregano, cocoa, cinnamon, cayenne, allspice, black pepper, and the remaining 1 teaspoon salt. Cook, stirring constantly, until the spices are fragrant, about 30 seconds. Stir in the broth, water, vinegar, sugar, and tomato sauce, scraping the pan bottom to remove any browned bits.
3. Add the blanched ground beef and increase the heat to high. As soon as the liquid boils, reduce the heat to medium-low and simmer, stirring occasionally, until the chili is deep red and has thickened slightly, about 1 hour. Adjust the seasonings, adding salt and hot pepper sauce to taste. (The chili can be refrigerated in an airtight container for up to 3 days. Bring to a simmer over medium-low heat before serving.)
4. TO SERVE: Divide the buttered spaghetti among individual bowls. Spoon the chili over the spaghetti and top with the cheese, beans, and onion. Serve immediately.

seth macfarlane type comedy is basically this:
-take a scenario(red fire trucks)
-put it in a larger scenario that doesn't match(national geographic channel)
-milk it for all its worth(there were like 3 maybe four of those jokes during that one episode)
another way that seth milks the joke is that he'll just let that mismatch scenario run for like 3 whole minutes or so; ie when peter, glen, cleveland and joe are stranded and they do an orgy.
now, if you like that stuff, then family guy and american dad will be tons funny to watch.
if you don't like that, you'll basically think it's immature.
i personally like that stuff, but i still believe futurama is way more funnier than either.
i'm hoping the creator of simpsons someday ressurects futurama; because the simpsons as of now are getting REALLY stale.
---
sunnyvale golfland has tekken 5.1, but the mu has tekken 5.0. it doesn't help that mu has american sticks; ie the sticks have a higher ball, and it's more like a bat, less like a ball on stick. oh yea; tekken 5 - dark ressurection's coming out like in half a year i think? sorta like vf:evolution, but for tekken, which is a good thing; fix the problems of tekken 5.0 and tekken 5.1.
---
i got a new cell phone; this one's got a built-in camera in it. lg c2000 i think? since i never use im on the phone or the internet, that's all this phone's gonna be good for outside of calling; i'll probably need to get one of those usb to cell phone cables to maximize its use, cause sending pics will cost money.
---
is donovan mcnabb ambidextrous? i remember watching the hurricane katrina relief effort take place intermittently during monday night football, and donovan was one of the guys taking the calls, but he was cradling the phone w/his left shoulder, and writing with his left hand! but we all know he throws right-handed in the nfl, so...

my mom meows like a cat when she's in the crappié
EVERY... single... time...
and i don't think it's really scarring the squirrels that LIVE(that's right; LIVE) on top of our house, specifically, on top of the upstairs bathroom, away.
which is why she's been doing that everytime she goes into the bathroom.
heh... it's probably making ME want to move away more than the squirrels... because i end up getting SO #$^%^$%^%$^ annoyed everytime she does that.
does my mom really think that squirrels are THAT retarded?

random biological facts about myself
just cause i feel like writing them down... nothing gross, don't worry.
i don't know my blood type; but i can infer from the genetic makeup of my brother, my mom and my dad, that i could be any of the four; my mom was blood type B, my dad was blood type A, and my brother was blood type O; that means my mom had BO, my dad had AO. if you remember your punnett squares, you'll understand what i'm talking about.
i always wondered why there was such a large age gap between me and phil; 8.5 years. the reason is that my mom miscarried on the 2nd baby, so my parents probably didn't try to create another baby for a time. i found this out maybe 1-2 years ago. i am really the 3rd kid of this family, believe it or not.
with that, think about this; does God put souls into human bodies, or within human bodies does he create souls? if my mom did not miscarry, would my soul have been in the 2nd baby, or would somebody else have been?

football
how bout them niners getting off to a good start?
though baltimore lost to indy, deion sanders had a huge tackle in the 2nd quarter.
i don't really watch college football, but i remember seeing a highlight on saturday that was just sickening; forgot the two teams that played, but it was a long bomb, and the wr caught it behind his defender, and held on, tumbling with him into the end zone for a touchdown; looked like a bear hug when he did it; absolutely sickening.
the saints are supposedly going to be "america's team" this year, due to all the mishaps that have occurred over at louisiana so far...
i'll post more, but later, as cpu lab has a 10 min limit.

yea yea football's back
should've posted this 2-3 days ago though...
anyways, wouldn't be funny if the raiders turn into the niners and the niners into the raiders?
it's already going that way, seeing how raiders can't defend for crap even though that had number 99 for quite some time. and woodson. goes to show how much more football is a team sport compared to basketball, since there's double digit people on the field, that 1 or 2 won't make a difference, unless that one or two is a qb and a wr. ie colins and moss.
so, raiders turn into an air-it-up team, wonder if niners will turn into a grind it out team.
here's some good matchups coming up:
colts and ravens on sunday.
falcons and eagles on monday.

fighting games...
some guy who i played tekken 5 against today at the mu i think knew what he was doing(i haven't played a feng yet, but this day was the 1st), but he was banging the buttons pretty hard and quickly like you had to cancel and link like in street fighter... calm down man, no need to button mash... i almost thought you were a 5 year old playing by that appearance.
bruce irvin from tekken and brad burns from virtua fighter make me want to take up muay thai...
i've watched an actual muay thai match on tv though, and the pace and style are much more different than american kickboxing. less movement.

american dad
daughter: mom ran off with (name of her boyfriend)!
stan: your boyfriend ran off with my wife!
stan: we should get back at them by doing each other!
*awkward silence*
stan: waitaminute, that didn't come out right
i could not stop laughing after hearing that
as well as family guy...
peter discovers he's blind, so...
*at doctor's office*
dr: can you see this?

1st corinthians 10:
18-21
Behold Israel after the flesh: are not they which eat of the sacrifices partakers of the altar?
What say I then? that the idol is any thing, or that which is offered in sacrifice to idols is any thing?
But I say, that the things which the Gentiles sacrifice, they sacrifice to devils, and not to God: and I would not that ye should have fellowship with devils.
Ye cannot drink the cup of the Lord, and the cup of devils: ye cannot be partakers of the Lord's table, and of the table of devils.
23
All things are lawful for me, but all things are not expedient: all things are lawful for me, but all things edify not.

chaffing
my shoulders look like i have something wrong w/my skin...
but i've realized something...
i NEVER chaff on my lower arms or my lower legs... those parts of my body are the darkest areas of my skin...
and i've come to realize it's not cause of wearing t-shirts + shorts in the summer either... although i do that enough to warrant that excuse.
it's because besides pubic hair and hair on my head, those parts of my body have the most hair.
kinda strange to realize, but it's true.
which would explain why my upper chest and shoulders always after a sunburn, never keep their tans. no hair there at all.
why is this? perhaps god intended hair for some type of protection that i don't quite truly realize yet.

the bible on marriage and divorce
1st Corinthians 7:
1-2
Now concerning the things whereof ye wrote unto me: It is good for a man not to touch a woman.
Nevertheless, to avoid fornication, let every man have his own wife, and let every woman have her own husband.
7-9
For I would that all men were even as I myself. But every man hath his proper gift of God, one after this manner, and another after that.
I say therefore to the unmarried and widows, It is good for them if they abide even as I.
But if they cannot contain, let them marry: for it is better to marry than to burn.
10-11
And unto the married I command, yet not I, but the Lord, Let not the wife depart from her husband:
But and if she depart, let her remain unmarried or be reconciled to her husband: and let not the husband put away his wife.
12-15
But to the rest speak I, not the Lord: If any brother hath a wife that believeth not, and she be pleased to dwell with him, let him not put her away.
And the woman which hath an husband that believeth not, and if he be pleased to dwell with her, let her not leave him.
For the unbelieving husband is sanctified by the wife, and the unbelieving wife is sanctified by the husband: else were your children unclean; but now are they holy.
But if the unbelieving depart, let him depart. A brother or a sister is not under bondage in such cases: but God hath called us to peace.
so you see, the bible doesn't say you MUST stay single; however, paul states that he thinks that as a christian, it's better to remain a single virgin; however, if you have fleshly sexual desires, then it is better that you matter so as not to sin.
and do you see what paul says about divorce? either reunite together, or remain divorced; DON'T remarry. that is adultery, and sin.
i wonder how many cases of catholic priests molesting boys actually took place. the catholic church prohibits its bishops, priests, nuns to marry.

raccoons fascinate me
actually, a LOT of animals fascinate me...
the truth is, a lotta animals just aren't out to get you as you might believe; a lot of them simply are "defensive;" mess with them and they'll get all over you. leave them alone and watch them from a distance, or approach them cautiously, and they won't bother you.
i think the love's partially due to a lotta things; some of these being that i have always loved animals... loved watching how they react in certain situations, trying to understand what is their mentality...
part of it also comes from the appreciation of a god who created them simply cause that's the way he wanted them to be.
so it was very nice to see a buncha raccoons during retreat; i was surprised on the walk back from the beach on saturday night w/matthew that he also likes animals, and yes, raccoons a lot too. we saw one near the trash cans, and instead of trying to chase it away, we just stopped and watched it.
heh, i wonder if they legally sell raccoons as pets.
anyways, some facts off the top of my heads on raccoons.
-they wash their food before they eat it because it actually helps shrink the food size so they can just gulp it(remembered this from way back)
-they're often seen as scavengers, but they'll eat whatever; insects, birds, frogs, to name a few
-they often seem to be very inquisitive; almost like the way dogs act; the raccoon me and matt were looking at seemed to be wandering at random around the campfire site, even though the trash can was only in one spot; we can only figure that it was pawing and sniffing all sorts of smells and following them; quite interesting indeed.
if you wanna read more into them

feeling better
k, my skin's almost healed; healed, as in, i can touch it, and it won't cause a burning pain... which means i can finally get back to practicing electric guitar again...
(speaking of electric guitar, it would REALLY be nice if i had a 2nd electric guitar; kinda annoying tuning back and forth between dropped c# and standard e)
i have a feeling all that stuff is gonna chaff right off though; which would explain why my frontside never really looks dark at all.
ok, i don't know if you know this, but bengay doesn't really work by relieving your pain; it's actually a mild irritant; it supposedly irritates the skin where it's applied so your body sends a lot of red blood cells to that area to help you. you can see that this is the truth the next time you get hurt; like when you get a sunburn. touch the area and grit your teeth and ignore the sharp pain; you'll actually sense that all you really feel is a mild burning sensation; much like the feeling you get when you put on bengay.
it's always fascinated me how pain works anyways... like how much is it psychological, how much of it physical, does it seem to be composed of only sharp painful feelings, or a burning sensation, etc.

retreat was great
but i seriously have got to buy my own sunblock and bring wherever during the spring and summer; that's the absolute last time i get sunburned; i've gotten sunburned way too much; i'm pretty much just carving my own death warrant. good thing my evolution class just spent today reviewing the test we took on friday and tuesday i don't have class, so i can be a hermit in my apartment, and hope that my skin heals and gets a nice tan before wednesday.
i have a feeling that maybe i should consider doing a solo retreat sometime in the future, but i wouldn't know where to go.
i think perhaps the biggest aspect i got from retreat was that god's entire plan was to have us eat with him in fellowship, just like the garden of eden; that's what he's been shooting for all of time; to essentially reverse history and bring us back to eden.
unfortunately, i have very little secular friends; well, i do have some, but the ones in high school i have barely kept up with...

sports ish
ok, i'm feeling a little bit better about the situation surrounding lance...
turns out there was only one newspaper which published the dirt on lance, and it was a french magazine
the french are supposedly bitter, and just looking for someone to blame, since they haven't won the tour de france for like 25 years
the accusation is that they got lance's sample from 7 years ago, but 7 years is a long time, and perhaps samples change when it's that long
and they don't have A samples AND B samples; just B samples.
---
michael vick has a long way to go before he can claim to be "one of the best," as he did on national tv in an interview... can your arms match your legs, mike? your legs may be unsurpassed, but if i wanted a qb who could run, i'd rather have a qb more akin to donovan mcnabb or jeff garcia.
---
and it looks like to might really be going away from the eagles...
heh, i figure it like this; seems like no team wants t.o., right? nfl should just create another expansion team, and put t.o. on it; problem solved :D we can call it the "t.o. team"

Yes, this was part of an actual experiment that some guys at harvard university tried to do

i really hope the allegations against lance armstrong aren't true
because if it's true he really did use steroids, i think one of sports' greatest heroes and stories will be shot to waste.
think about it...
lance not only survives cancer, he comes back to win the tour de france...
then he does it again... times 6...
and now, to realize that possibly all his accomplishments were not due to genetics and plain old fashioned hard work...
that's a disappointment...
with all the allegations, who's next? michael jordan?

back to the childhood days
it's really amusing to me how the only guys who are going to canaan retreat this year are me, jon, jerm and norm.
because aside from me, all the other guys have connections within the church, like deep within it, like to the day it was born; norm's family's just sprinkled throughout the church, for instance.
WITH me, it's basically the group of guys that have refused to find a new church everytime we return from college.
not that i'm saying i could be stuck here forever... ditto w/the others...
but CTCC will always somehow find some place in my heart...
NOW, retreat will truly be a retreat... a place where you REALLY get away from everything to be w/god. funny how i will end up getting away from my evolution class to be w/god; imagine the humor in that.
---
now, off the computer in the cpu lab, and back to doing something else.

vf4evo jacky for dummies
jacky's definitely too fun, even though he's really easy to play; i wouldn't say he's one of my "mains," but it's really easy to use him, and yes, he really is pretty fun to play...
offensive poking strategies of note...
pp, then...
-throw if you think they'll remain standing, respecting your strikes,
-or continue the string w/f+p if you think they'll duck or attack back, or delay it if you think they'll evade,
-or continue the string w/u+p as an alterative to f+p if you think they'll try to attack; they can duck it, but if they try to attack, it will crush all attacks and give a free u+p,
-or continue the string w/b+p,k as yet another alternative to f+p; they can duck it, but if they remain standing, on block it will give you a slight advantage and leave you backturned,
off of a f+p...
-if they normally get hit, follow w/the k and knock them down
-if they stagger or get countered(look for red or yellow flash), press the advantage
-if it's blocked, try delaying the followup p or go defensive
-if they fear the followup attacks and keep blocking high, throw
db+p and b+p,db+p are both excellant low pokes, and safe on block for the most part; throw them out occasionally when you can get the opponent to block high all the time; the second is not only a true combo, if the opponent is touchy and tries to attack after b+p, try delaying and then do the canned b+p to interrupt
ff+kb is a useful midrange poke; upon block, try going d+g, or on hit, go into his ppx flowcharts...
combo starters:
off of a backdash, p+kp and b+k+g are both excellant combo starters and fairly safe on block; these can be used to kill evades or low punchers/elbowers,
use df,df+k to punish failed evades; higher risk than the other combo starters, but a lot more reward,
or f+k to interrupt if you have a sizeable advantage, hoping it interrupts and floats the opponent for a combo,
you can also use FC,df+p in place of f+k; it's also a very good move and functions about the same as f+k, with a little more speed, a little less range,
master his "iai;" it's slow, but safe, and gives advantage on block, plus the potential for 70+ points on any hit
okizeme:
b,f+k+g is an awesome move; beats evades, duckers, attackers, even backdashers; amazing move; only standing guard will beat it; careful usage of this move causes the opponent to not want to dodge as much, which enables you to pressure with other safer pokes after they get up
b+p,db+p is also good in cases like these
as well as throw
on non-general defense:
his dodge attack is excellant as it gives good advantage on normal hit... good to use when you're on disadvantage and know the opponent will try to counterattack...
his d+p+kkk is a really good move as long as you don't abuse it; interrupts all sorts of stuff, really great near the end of the round...
and i just love the df+ppp; seriously, my favorite move with jacky...
sure it's great when you block a move that's -14; then it's 64 pts gone right there...
but it truly shines as a punishing move to use off of a successful evade...
easy as pie to do, but a lot better than most of the other 1-button combo starters in the game(except maybe jeff's knee, but that thing's kinda slow)...
if you successfully dodge an attack that's slower than elbow, the opponent's getting plastered onto the ground...

see you guys in about a week i guess...
romans 9 is an excellant chapter which has a lot of reasons why predestination is clearly supported by the bible, that god does clearly raise up people simply to use them for his displays of power, such as the pharoah... go read this chapter and think about it for a bit...

romans 7:7-8
What shall we say then? Is the law sin? God forbid. Nay, I had not known sin, but by the law: for I had not known lust, except the law had said, Thou shalt not covet.
But sin, taking occasion by the commandment, wrought in me all manner of concupiscence. For without the law sin was dead.
i think the usage of the word "lust" in verse 7 compared to how i used to remember the verse as paraphrased in niv "i would not have known what coveting meant if the law did not say "do not covet" ", puts a really unique spin on this verse; i've never really seen coveting as a form of lusting, but now i do...
concupiscence means strong desire, esp, sexual desire
read the rest of the chapter and you'll see one of the reasons why some christians, including me now, believe firmly that man has a will, but it is not free to choose between good and evil

raider nation can just suck it
final score: 21-13
two of the niner touchdowns were set up by key interceptions during the 2nd or 3rd quarters. before that, it was more-or-less 6-0. the pickoff at one end carrying all the way back for the td was the killa... and from there, you know what happened.
who sez raiders play better d than the niners?

wow, the muga actually HAS TEKKEN 5!?!?!?!!?!
but there's still some bad to that:
-american sticks, not like the japanese style sticks at sunnyvale golfland where the controls feel and melt into your hand; american sticks still probably last a lot longer than japanese sticks though.
-no ability to plug your ps2 controller in(not that'd i want to)
-no ability to purchase or use your card :(
still, i'm happy because i noticed people actually PLAYING it, the sf regulars, whereas they just ignored the tekken 3 machine. so i'll actually be getting comp when i play this game = GOOD.
so i played a few rounds against them...
everytime i did a bryan combo they were like "oh damn that takes too much damage" or something equivalent to that.
and still can't wavedash ever, but i was able to play as devil jin fairly well. i think i'll eventually learn to use kazuya too.
and of course, jin and nina.
i predict that give 2-3 months and everybody playing that game regularly will be using-i mean whoring steve and going for wall everytime they launch.
but that's playing the hypocrite, because i know if i just get a few months down, i'll be wall raping with bryan as well. only god will know how many players will complain if i get down 1+3+4~f, 3+4, 121df+3 to a 90% success rate
but there's still some bad to that:
-american sticks, not like the japanese style sticks at sunnyvale golfland where the controls feel and melt into your hand; american sticks still probably last a lot longer than japanese sticks though.

after watching chargers at packers, i KNOW the chargers' kicker has got to look for a new job...
he missed ALL of his fg kicks; at 40 yrds... and this was a seasoned veteran who was 8/11 at 40+ yrds last year...
then the rookie packers kicker kicks a FIFTY-THREE yarder to break the tie and win the game...
in the frigid cold, rainy atmosphere...
wow...
---
anyways, to's just messing stuff up as he goes along; now he created a rift between him and donovan mcnabb...
way to be a team player... what are you trying to turn eagles into, the 2003-2004 lakers?
fred's like "cool, maybe he'll come back to niners"
but honestly, i don't know of any OTHER team that would take to... and quite honestly, eagles don't have as much offensive depth as they did last year... to's stuck right in philly, or eagles better hope mcnabb is really all that and more.
---
raiders at niners today... 7 pm pst... WATCH IT...
raiders are definitely improved, and well, i just wanna see how the new niners qb does...
game's still pretty much gonna be a train wreck though.

random bible ish on my mind...
one of the reasons why the kjv isn't favored today isn't just that they somewhat FOUND more reliable bible manuscripts, even though that's the gist of it...
kjv has REALLY strong words against women who sell themselves out to other husbands; the modern bibles call these people prostitutes; kjv calls them whores.
the kjv has STRONG language against homosexuals too; calling them sodomites. calling what they do abominations, fornications.
there's probably others.
now, some of you may be saying, is this language necessary? aren't we basically degrading women or gays with this language?
hold on... think about it... THAT'S how much god hates our sin. when it is labelled like this, it is supposed to draw up a mirror and force you to look deep inside of you; human reaction to being called a whore or a sodomite is naturally to lash back in anger, compared to being called a prostitute. we simply don't LIKE being called this. but god's intention is to show us just how much he loathes our sin, in the hopes that we'd become disappointed of ourselves and wish to changes ourselves back.
unfortunately, like i've pointed out, human condition is not to change ourselves when we hear this, but change our speaker.
and i want you to realize(i'll have to confirm it), that allegedly, one of the chief editors for the niv was an admitted lesbian. think about that.
but anyways, here's some verses of note as i was reading today; all of them come from romans 1.
romans 1:25(it's talking about unrighteous men here)
Who changed the truth of God into a lie, and worshipped and served the creature more than the Creator, who is blessed for ever. Amen.
the 1st portion of the verse; i'll keep from saying anything and let you interpret it; who do you think would change the truth of God into a lie, and how would they do it?
other verses:
romans 1:26-27
26 For this cause God gave them up unto vile affections: for even their women did change the natural use into that which is against nature:
27 And likewise also the men, leaving the natural use of the woman, burned in their lust one toward another; men with men working that which is unseemly, and receiving in themselves that recompence of their error which was meet.
so now you can't say god only condemned homosexuality in the old testament; that line just doesn't work no more.
---
but as i was trying to do some looking on a kjv bible search tool for sodomities in the bible on my cpu, this verse interestingly popped up:
revelations 11:8
And their dead bodies shall lie in the street of the great city, which spiritually is called Sodom and Egypt, where also our Lord was crucified.
why is this important, and why did it strike me?
think about all that i've said about alexandria, egypt during biblical times... it was the area where people kept an open mind to everything, the science and technology pinnacle of the world. from these places, the corrupt biblical manuscripts, vaticanus and sinaiticus were born.
sodom i don't need to get into.
but those two words aren't exactly that far off describing today's modern world; egypt(due to technology and our open-mindedness and stuff like that) and sodom(sf, anybody?)
now, the dead bodies that this verse refers to are the two "witnesses" that prophesy about god a thousand, 2 hundred and 3score days, or 1,260 days, then get killed by the people of this world.
now, when a freshman in college, back for the summer, i remember learning that in sunday school, these "witnesses" were supposedly not yet appeared on the earth, that'd it appear sometime when the antichrist comes. supposedly, these prophets would be moses and maybe elijah.
but i've learned something else this year concerning these 2 witnesses.
look at revelations 11:3-4
3 And I will give power unto my two witnesses, and they shall prophesy a thousand two hundred and threescore days, clothed in sackcloth.
4 These are the two olive trees, and the two candlesticks standing before the God of the earth.
2 olive trees, and 2 candlesticks huh?
and now, go read zechariah 4 in the kjv; in fact, here
so now, the interpretation was that this HAS happened already; what i've read suggested that during some dark ages when the roman catholic church had full grasp of its power, the bible was forbidden or something to that degree. and that days here doesn't really mean days as in 24 hrs, but years, because days are like years and years like days to god.
i don't have the exact words of the writer in front of me right now, but if i can remember to come back and show you it, then i'll do so.

more football ish, specifically, the eagles
i'm sure everyone will eventually hear about t.o.'s leaving eagles training camp in sheer anger today... in fact, it wasn't just andy reid who voiced some negative opinions about t.o. not showing up to autograph day; other players did too.
so i'm starting to get a mixed feeling about the guy...
it's almost as if he's elevating his status over his team, whereas football is still a team sport
even if he wanted a pay increase, doing what he did was surely not the way to show he deserved it...
so, we'll see if eventually the eagles decide to cut him loose, they let him back, but tensions still flare, or he makes a full apology and they accept him fully back gladly.
---
oh yeah, mcnabb is on the cover of madden '06...
does that mean the eagles won't go far this season?
knowing the "curse of the madden nfl game cover?"
we'll see...

takes faith to believe in what?
ss2, i've decided to take an evolution and ecology class; reqd for genetics majors; it's not going to turn into a bash-christianity class, but i wouldn't be surprised if here and there they say stuff like oh creationists say this and that, but evolution has shown this and that.
people always say it takes faith to believe in jesus... that the proof that god exists isn't there... but these past 2 or 3 years have actually shown me that it takes more faith to believe in atheism, or evolutionism, or something other than christinity, to explain the rest of this world...
and it has a lot to do with the historical evidence and stuff... like what they've found, how crucifixation works, etc...
but i would say, most recently, like the past year or so, it's because i've realized just how protected and uncorrupted the kjv bible we read today is... that has strengthened my faith ever so the more...
now i could go on and on about this, but lemme give you a narrow perspective on this...
a lot of christians seem to believe that god's word was perfect AT SOME POINT IN TIME; then gradually as they copied and recopied the word(before the printing press), errors crept in, and the thought is that today, we read something that is clearly not the bible of past, but christians will argue that the main pieces are still there; jesus died on the cross, blah blah blah, but hey, maybe the story of samson got distorted or this and that.
the problem is that the bible says that god's word IS truth, and that there are numerous passages which suggest that EVERY word of god is truth; either you believe that the bible translated into languages other than greek or hebrew is perfect as god intended down to every last word, or you're calling god a liar.
not that we actually say that god's a liar outloud; no christian does that; but i believe we infer it. part of our reasoning for this i believe is that man is falliable; hence, we believe that man's works are falliable, but god uses them for his glory. the bible suggests this as well; joseph's brothers selling him into captivity, not knowing they set him up to save the middle eastern world from famine. god using samson's sexual desires to make his paths cross with the philistines and then to set him up to destroy the philistines. god hardening the hearts of the pharisees so that they would have the nerve to crucify the son of god.
but god's word is not of man; it is of god. and for this reason, it MUST be perfect if christianity is to be true. i have seen passages where god's name is so holy, that if you used to misuse it, you'd be put to death. but god has also stated that his WORD is actually held ABOVE his name. so if messing with his name puts you to earthly death, guess what messing with his word, changing it, saying it's one thing, when it's not, leads you to? that's right; hell.
think about it; why would god create a perfect bible that only a select few would be able to read, knowing it's the word of god? why would he allow a perfect bible to degrade over time, while allowing so-called christians to continue to be born into this world? to mess with everybody else's spiritual lives at stake? if anything, this generation needs an uncorrupted bible even more than the one that existed during acts; they had disciples which had seen, touched and heard jesus face to face. what do we have in comparison? nothing much i'd say. except the bible if you believe in it.
i hope all you christians who read this seriously think about it.

random ish; pick and read what you may
has anybody else realized that holy crap's an oxymoron? not that this one wasn't that tough to figure out... i'll let that one sink in for you...
---
i'd rather have mon - thurs class, and then friday off, rather than that little free spot on tuesday that i have... but maybe it'll teach me how to pace my breaks, instead of piling everything right into one heap...
---
oh yeah...
congratulations, steve young and dan marino; you both earned your spots in football's hall of fame...
i seriously can't wait for football season to start... raiders look good, i wanna see what potential the new qb rookie has for the niners, and it'll be interesting if philly can put the drama w/to behind them to climb back. it'll also be interesting to see if patriots will remain at the top, since they lost their best defensive player teddy; still have 3rd strike ken aka tom brady though, and their lets-play-as-many-positions-as-possible troy brown.

how CAN you be this stupid?
my mom knows absolutely nothing about technology...
*this totally steamed me and annoyed me the hell off; i figured i got the angry streak from my mom, but due to my dad's silent, shy nature, i hold it in so much...*
so my mom calls me on friday afternoon and asks if i could call back home because she can't get my cd player to work...
i'm lazy on returning calls back to mom, but oblige, calling back on saturday night...
tells me she puts the cd in, and can't get it to work...
-was i supposed to put the shiny side down?
-yes... did you make sure to set the cd dial to "cd?" (either tape, radio or cd)
-yes
-what about the cd? did you make sure to close the cd player?
-yes
-did you press play?
-yes
now i'm just getting confused; i'm running off all the thoughts in my mind trying to understand how my cd player isn't working... i end up telling my mom to just try all sorts of stuff(my mom seems to be very timid with experimenting with technology), and call me back if anything else goes wrong...
get a call back on sunday... i call back, mom's not there, so i explain as best i can on the phone how to work the thing...
get a call AGAIN on monday after class, because my mom still can't get the thing to work...
now i'm just really confused(i KNOW i did not break the cd player at all when i used it a lot back home, and it ran even though it was pretty dusty a lotta times; i took care of it)... i ask all sorts of things, like did my mom try to play a dvd in the cd player? did she try one of my music cds instead of her cds? did she wait about 10 seconds after the cd loaded to make sure it actually played? was the volume turned up?
my mom's getting angry at how i'm seeming to ask the same set of questions over and over, and i'm in return getting angry because i KNOW the cd player can't be broke...
finally...
(remember that this is all paraphrased in english; i rarely talk to my mom in english straight up, due to respect, and because my mom knows absolutely zero english besides really basic stuff; my mom's fobby like that; in a way though, it's helped me a lot; i'd say i speak the taiwanese that i use quite well)
-what does the digital counter say?
-13(ok, so i'm thinking that the cd player stopped, and isn't playing; my player shows the # of tracks if you don't play it)
-is the cd spinning?
-no
-ok, so press play/pause(i'm thinking the cd should start spinning, and the digital counter should flash, indicating that it's loading and then the player will play)
-YOU JUST TOLD ME TO DO THAT!
-well do it again!
...
-anything? is the cd spinning?
-no...
-(running exasperated through my mind right now, but not allowing myself to get angry over the phone)... ok, um, there should be two large buttons that are on the side, that say "play/pause" and "stop"... press STOP and then-
-should it stay down?
-*confused* no, it shouldn't
-*my mom's probably acting sheepish on the other side of the phone right about now* oh, you mean the SIDE buttons, not the ones on top...
so it basically turns out my mom was trying to use the tape buttons to run the cd player... y'kno, the bulky buttons that stay down when you press them, as opposed to the cd player's buttons which pop right back up...
*normally, i'd probably laugh at this, but you know how my personality is; i think i gain a new appreciation for tech support guys through trying to help my mom*
by now, as you could've guessed, i was flat out exasperated and pissed off that my mom could be so STUPID as to try to use the tape buttons to run the cd player...
i remember telling my mom before i got off the phone that "when *oua goh doa dun lie, oua be gah lee hew*"
but i love my mom... i just can't understand how my mom can be so technologically dumb...

and you figured the heat couldn't get any stronger
walker, williams and posey...
plus kazaam, mourning, haslem and dwade(i don't like the nickname flash)...
heat REALLY look strong now...
i say that shaq still has at least 5 good years left in him, and ironically, that's the same as his length of his latest deal...
does that mean, IMO, heat definitely got the better part of the deal w/the lakers? to me, yes...
but we'll need to see if kobe can make it to the top of the west to see if that occurs...
we'll also need to see if heat can get past the eastern mountains we call motown(if they click with flip and darko gets more minutes, i'd say they can roll with anybody) and indy(remember that artest wasn't in most of the season last year; look for pacers to be a REAL threat this year)...

judges 15:19 - KJV
judges 15:19 - NIV
more differences picked up while reading for me...
apparently, the modern bible translators mightve mistranslated "the jaw" to be Lehi, which also means jaw.
there's a lotta places in the bible like this, where multiple words could've been used for the same thing, when they were translating hebrew and greek scriptures into english.
however, i believe that no two words are alike, and so, if you don't use the right word, problems arise. the modern bible advocates will claim the footnotes also give alternative definitions, but who reads footnotes all the time when they're reading the bible? with all the "or *other word*" as the footnotes all over the place, you gradually just say, i'll just stick w/what the main portion of the bible says, and that could lead to trouble.
like in isaiah 14:12, where the blasphemous new bible versions mistranslate lucifer to morning star; apparently the same word had 2 different meanings in hebrew. that's what the advocates for the new bible versions claim, so they're not really wrong, are they? however, when we look in revelations 22:16, jesus claims to be the morning star; do you see the problem that arises here?

Judges 15:7 NIV
Judges 15:7 - KJV
stumbled upon this as i was reading my daily bible reading today...
it could be argued that in KJV, samson sounds more like a person who is delivering justice, whereas in the NIV, he sounds like he's on a vendetta, which god personally does not want us to undertake. the original commandment "eye for an eye" was meant to serve justice, not to undertake revenge.

the early church was a mix of greeks and hebrews
some things for you to ponder....
timothy was half greek, half jew; the jewishness came from his mother
i'm reading a lot of acts as of late(i love how the cambridge kjv has a 2 year bible reading plan in the back which covers 1 chapter from 1 book in the new testament and 1 chapter from the old each day; helps make bible reading not get so bogged down), and much of the early church endeavors were from jersusalem, out to various greek cities, which had jews splattered around here and there. as a result, when many people came to know christ in various cities, not only did the jews become christians, but so did the greeks. paul and silas, it seems, were the ones in charge of this ministry, but paul also took with him timothy wherever he went, or so i'm getting the idea of that; sorta like an apprentice.
berea in particular, is impressive, because the bereans ALWAYS compared what people told them to what the scriptures actually said. as a result, many of them turned to christ. the facts speak for themselves; i only wish many more of us took after the bereans; i'm trying my share at it; that's why i've come to believe the things i believe as of late.
of course, you know how i feel about antioch, and acts writes a lot about antioch; i think there's verses stating how paul and barnabas spent a lot of time there, building up and checking back on the churches there.
but despite all the growth, satan always breeds opposition, and in almost every place where there was growth, there was jews that tried to stir up the government and similar ish.
just some things to think about...

peace and love and prayers to the mexico team, and praises to our god for bringing the taiwan team back safely...
time to take my christian life during this summer up a notch...

i wonder just how often god communicates with his people in dreams...
like how many of those things turn out to be true...
cause lately i've been getting nightmares...
not the ones where i'm being chased by the T-1000(used to have those all the time when i was a kid)
but, like, i dunno, ones pertaining to things i don't want others to find out... kinda hard to describe... dreams can be easy to forget...
i should keep a pen and paper next to my bed, so that if i get one, i can jot it down...

ny welcomes home larry brown
stephen a smith personally on tv GUARENTEED that the knicks will be in the playoffs come that time...
i don't wanna jump on the bandwagon quite yet(though i'd like to see it happen), but i will say that if lb pulls this off(get the knicks into the playoffs this coming year), it will be nothing short of incredible...
ny has no money to blow...
nobody on that team plays defense first...
nobody on that team shares the ball first...
the eastern conference as a whole has gotten better while ny has gotten worse(besides the top 3, nets now have abdu-rahim, cavs have hughes, wizards have daniels, and of course we have chicago and boston not going anywhere, let's not forget orlando, and even bucks look better)...
put it this way; brown is worth a LOT to any nba team; if there's a coach you'd want on your team in this day and age, this guy is it. but i believe the players contribute to that potential as well. the reason why the sixers could not top the lakers, but the pistons could, was simply that the pistons were a flat-out better team; there was more to them that simply one or two players.
i really felt that the pistons was really the ideal team that brown wanted to coach all along...
they share the ball like he wants to...
they play hardcore team d like he wants to...
they have no superstar, so this team concept is helped even more...
and finally, he loves them and they love him right back...
but hey, let's see what brown can do for ny...

random ish said between me and jay on the bus
bus driver ended up taking a wrong turn, prompting him to ask me, "do they always do this?"
"not really, i mean, when they do, they kinda have to go through this huge deal of calling dispatch and asking what to do and stuff"
somehow, that got into some ucla and uc davis comparisons...
"at ucla, we don't really get this, but our busses are either electric or gas, so sometimes the electric ones fail us going uphill and then all of us kinda just sit while the thing rolls backward"
"lol"
"once it failed us going DOWNHILL"
"LOL! DOWNHILL?!?!?"
"and we started asking, 'are we gonna die?' "
"your squirrels here look normal-sized"
"maybe that's cause there's no smog"
"yea... like in ucla once i put my taco that i bought from taco bell next to me, turned away, then turned back, and it was gone... and all the ppl were like 'you should've kept it on your lap' and i look over and some huge squirrels were eating my taco"
"haha... huh... so both ucb and ucla have gigantic squirrels."
"but your ducks seem crazy on davis; always the male chasing the female"
"oh, i see that a lot; once i saw a male duck chase a female duck down, then stand on top of her when she was collapsed and proceeded to peck the crap outta her on her head; it's like she was just laying down and accepting it; i figure that's like the duck equivalent of getting raped"
there was some other comparisons we did; like i had to tell him about how our davis police had nothing to do(prompting me to tell him about how a policeman wrote a ticket for a car that had clearly been in an accident, even though other officers had already shown up and dealt with the scene, and he responded w/ucla officers shooting at a homeless guy who had NOTHING on him)

i can't believe i just told grace lin that...
french(the language) is useless in the the us...
(i guess i SORTA bit off of futurama in saying that, cause they once made fun of the french in that the professor creates a machine that can translate english, but then he says "in a completely utterly useless language" proceeds to say "hello" in the machine and gets "bonjour!" back...)
(i wonder if mandy reads my blog; she might be pissed i said that)
i then proceeded to tell her how spanish is so much more useful, and somehow the topic branched off unto all talks mexican food...
but later i decided; hey, why not find out?
http://www.ethnicharvest.org/regions/50languages.html
well, i was badly wrong... somewhat... it's true that you're going to find a LOT more latinos than french in the us... but they're still no 2, so i would guess learning french is still a good idea...
still, i don't see a lotta french in norcal...
PERO HAY MEXICANOS EN TODO LOS ESTADOS UNIDOS!
-in other quick news
some guitar center buys look fairly good august(for some things i need, well, i would LIKE another guitar, but that's outta my league, but getting a good set of cables would be nice), so it does look like i'll be revisiting arden centerr in west sac sometime soon...

scroll down until you hit the title "an audience with the masters"
then you'll see who's among the video game greats...
shigeru miyamoto, one of the giants behind nintendo, created both the mario and zelda series...
and yu suzuki was the giant behind sega's am2, and he is also one of the giants in all of video game history for breaking new ground; he created the virtua fighter series, and shemmue.
"The Virtua Fighter series is recognized for its contributions in the fields of Art & Entertainment and is the only video game on permanent display in the Smithsonian Institution's Permanent Research Collection on Information Technology Innovation, at the Smithsonian's National Museum of American History in Washington D.C."
virtua fighter 4 final tuned is probably the most-played fighting game in japan today... japanese are nuts over competitive vf play... much like the same way koreans are nuts over competitive tekken play...
