because i'm not really a baseball guy, i really am ready for the nfl to start. watched the "gridiron stars" thing yesterday; y'kno, how espn pits 5 national football players vs 5 american football players in a variety of different events; it seriously makes everything they're doing look fun. i would love to race against someone in an obstacle course. but we all know football players are built for short, but frequent spurts, not long runs. that's why you see them tank out a lot for like long endurance stuff.

thomas nelson bibles sell the smallest kjv bible i've ever seen; it's like 3 in by 4 in, 1 cm thick. too bad i only saw one copy @barnes n noble, and it was red, not black. haven't seen them at bereans yet.

i really can't begin to study more about the kjv vs modern bible research til the books come in the mail, so i'm kinda stagnant right now; just have a lot of good accusations and arguments that i've pulled up from the internet as of right now. guess i could write them all down though.

hebrews uses the word "testament" to describe jesus' addition to his people in the bible. a testament is essentially the will of a person. think of it this way; the bible really is the will of the lord jesus christ. now, the person who writes that will is free, as long as he lives, to change, add and subtract to it as he likes, but once he dies, it becomes etched in stone. that is why jesus had the sole ability and privilege to add the new testament to the old testament; he wrote the old testament. here's some verses you can look at to ponder.

Hebrews 7:22: By so much was Jesus made a surety of a better testament.
Hebrews 8:6-7: But now hath he obtained a more excellent ministry, by how much also he is the mediator of a better covenant, which was established upon better promises.
For if that first covenant had been faultless, then should no place have been sought for the second.

and i want to take the oppurtunity to explain something about the kjv; you may notice that as you read the kjv, there's words randomly placed in italics. why is this? that is because while the editors for the kjv attempted to used word-for-word translation to accurately translate the bible from hebrew and greek to english, a 100% word-for-word translation was not possible. hence, words that were added in order to ensure that the passages would read fluently are marked with italics! isn't that amazing? that they would have the honesty to show which words they added to the bible! because we know that the scriptures at the very end of revelations condemn the people who add or subtract words to the bible. so, by this, we can judge whether or not these people honestly took away the original meaning of the bible. think about it. if everything i've found out about the modern bibles and their corruptness is true, then who knows how many verses they changed!

i was bored, so instead of playing tekken 3 at the mu, recently, i created a new character for "showtime: nba on nbc" at the mu; he's named "jrich" :D that's cause the game was based on the year 2000 i believe. warriors have starks, marshall, bogues. they do however, have DAMP!

vf4 evo is the best fighting game i've ever played; i'll glad i found out that it only cost ten dollars at best buy. they even make the training mode so detailed that you can learn the basics of the game from that alone; no other fighting game on console has that feature. i've always loved the vf series. probably try to learn akira, sarah, lau, jeff, then maybe brad or goh, somebody new. and i should get a joystick.

i just gotta make sure i set the kitchen timer everytime i play, or i could go overboard.

k, i should explain the bible research thing i did a post ago...

God is called "Holy One" or "Holy One of Israel," and rightfully so. he is referenced so much in the bible as such.

however, if you did a search for the words "Holy One of God," only two places will this pop up in the kjv: mark 1:24, and luke 4:34; both are spoken by a demon-possessed man. in both cases, when the demon says such words, jesus' response is to rebuke them, tell them to shut up and then to come out of him. now, it is important to realize that demons ALSO called him the son of God, but when Jesus rebukes them there, it is because he doesn't want them to reveal the truth to the common hebrew man, lest they not crucify him. remember this distinctiveness. when jesus casts out the demons calling him the "holy one of god," it is because they are speaking blasphemy.

now, try searching for the words "christ, the son of the living god," matthew 16:16 and john 6:69 pop up. this is when jesus asks peter what jesus is. jesus' response is to bless him, b/c it was revealed to him not by man's thinking, but by God. therefore it must be truth. and indeed it is true; 1st john 4:2 shows that every spirit that confesses that Jesus has come in the flesh is from God.

the NIV bible's john 6:69 calls Jesus the "Holy One of God." again, let's think a little bit; no where else in the bible is some being along the allegiance of good call god "holy one of god."

common modern day bible scholars refute these arguments by pointing to other places in the kjv where it doesn't refer to jesus but instead says something like "he." and i'm still looking into that. but if the kjv bible is not speaking of a flat-out blasphemy like the john 6:69 example, i don't see any reason why those arguments should be acceptable.

but i think the strongest argument for the kjv bible may be the agreement with geocentricity as opposed to heliocentricity; i'll look into that later.

well, although the pistons lost and the spurs won, at least i can be comfortable knowing the pistons pushed the spurs to actually earn their rings, unlike the previous years when the spurs reached the finals. game 7 was actually pretty close, and at times in the pistons' favor. i thought the pivotal moments came when detroit's best big men were sitted b/c brown was afraid to get them in deeper foul trouble. that's when duncan just took advantage of the mismatches, b/c detroit went small. but give the spurs credit; i don't think they have any glaring weaknesses out of all the teams in the nba. detroit did spectacular, but you could say in game 7 their weakness of a thin bench finally came out, because once they got in foul trouble, they really got nailed.

strangely enough, bob got his wish after game 4; all the following games were close.

series recap in short:
i was wrong about parker; the big guard for the spurs was manu ginobili, and the x-factor came from robert horry. duncan was of course their constant; wasn't flat-out dominant like in previous years when he almost got a quadruple double, but the big overall consistent person.

i was also wrong about detroit; their main guard was billups; i seriously don't give this guy enough credit; doesn't always score big every game, but he's the most consistent offensive player. big ben was also a serious mvp candidate for the pistons, as he played his heart out after game 2, with rebound after rebound; although he had his difficulties w/guarding duncan, the series would have even greater swung towards the spurs if it weren't for him. and mcdice was huge off the bench. the series could have been greatly different if prince was a much bigger factor; he was just too quiet offensively.

despite what it seemed like, i think maybe, just MAYBE, detroit could've won in 6 if rasheed had not tried to double ginobili in game 5 during overtime(basically if detroit actually won 3 in a row at home). but then again, i don't know if spurs would've played the same during game 6, and ditto for the pistons.

what i find most intriguing about the bible is that specific verses not only agree with each other at the time it was written, but it agrees with the past, and the future as well. god was not lying at all when he said his words are truth.

because inside it it pinpoints every single antichrist who hates jesus and only desires power of this world. i would not be surprised if there really was a conspiracy to entirely undermine and persecute the christian faith occurring right now. if the kjv bible really was god's word alone, and did pinpoint every single antichrist to come, then that's even more reason to understand why so many bible versions were created.

FOR SURE, my biblical research definately will not end with just the topic of the validity of the KJV bible vs the validity of all other modern bibles. in fact, i might even put aside the topic of the roman catholic church, and look at the zionists specifically after the bible research. it seems like speculatively, that could be a bigger problem than the RCC.

but i'm losing you. so here's something you can try to see just one of the grains of sand of evidence supporting the kjv. of course, there's more, but you can try this yourself.

go to biblegateway.com and select king james version as your bible search engine. type in "holy one," search, and select "more results from king james version" at the bottom of the page. change "match all words" to "match exact phrase." then search again. got it? you should see a plephora of matches with "holy one," often times "holy one of israel."(you can try searching "holy one of israel" instead) note the allegiance of the one who says it(good or evil?) should be overwhelmingly one sided who says it.

now try the same thing with the words "holy one of god." note who says it each time it pops up, how many verses pop up.
now try "Christ, the Son of the Living God" and note who says it each time it pops up, how many verses pop up.

got it?

now try the same search w/the NIV search engine.("Holy One of Israel", then "Holy One of God", then "Christ, the Son of the Living God")

go ahead and compare "Holy One of God" with "Christ, the Son of the Living God" using the other bible search engines.

interestingly enough, if you did it correctly, only 21KJV has similar results to KJV; of course, that bible also has problems that other arguments explain, but i'll explain what's the significance of these searching results tomorrow or so; give you a day or two to brood on it.

come to think about it, how does the home court advantage favor in the nba finals? let's not even think about how it's playing out this year; i'm thinking about how it works for all around; the nba finals set is a lot more different than the other best-of-7 series on the road there:

top seed: 2 games, then lower seed: 2 games, then top seed 1 game, lower seed 1 game, then top seed 1 game.

but in the finals:

2 games @west, followed by three games @east, then 2 games @west.

just looking at this, it would seem that statistics favor the west, due to the game 7, esp if games go back and forth. but wait! the east has THREE straight games at home! in the middle of the set, where they'll have a pretty good idea of how the west plays! if you took just one away game before game 3, you could very well wrap this thing up if you won three straight at home, esp if you seem to play about 200% better @home! that's what the pistons did last year; they surprised the world and won 1 game away, came really close 2nd, but no worries; they went home, and then became one of the first teams to win all 3 games @home and close this thing.

so i'm wondering just how the nba finals matchup favors who. west has the seventh game. but they have to play 3 straight on the road, in the middle of the series, which has the potential to really dent them w/no games to chance. then the east it seems would have 2 chances to get 1 win. on the other hand, if a series is streaky, then the west is favored; y'kno, if games are almost equally won on the road and at home.

granted, home games aren't automatic wins... but then again, if your average road win is by about 5 pts or so, and your home wins are by 20 pts or so...

but seriously, detroit has 2 more home games, and they can't let any one of them get away; i've been realizing how much important home games are in the playoffs this year, ESPECIALLY when you get closer and closer to the trophy. all the defensive rapes that i've seen and grown to love about detroit have come from their home games. y'kno, the ones where they hold the opponent to less than 80 pts, win by 15+, and bring out darko with 3 minutes to spare... home games aren't exactly free wins, but then again... that home crowd seems to just boost the players' energy.

and in some strange way, i have to thank god for not going to med school; i don't think i could "discover the truth" if i had good grades and got into med school; too little time. heck, the thought of the books i'll have to go through and the arguments i'll have to look at just to find out how canon the kjv is, well, it's very time-consuming.

alexandria, like much of the world today, was the epitome of education; science, scholarship, knowledge. the like-minded minds of Origen dominated these areas. like as now, education and science took away from the Word of God. most biblical corruptions that are seen in the codex sinaiticus(codex aleph), codex vaticanus(codex B), and the septuagint originated from this region. allegorical interpretation were taken at the bible; ie compare what YOU believe as truth to what the bible says. the bible consistently speaks negatively about egypt.

antioch was the origin of early work by the apostles. known for her luxury and cosmopolitan flavor, but also for its incredible trust in the bible. antioch was the only place where the bible was interpretted literally. the "textus receptus" was the products of many copies of scripture that came from here, all in agreement w/each other. as is the masoretic hebrew old testament. the natives of antioch were from Shem, one of the sons of Noah, whom Noah blessed himself(not Japhethities of Europe, and not Hamites of Africa)

the number 1 play for last night's top 10 on sportscenter was ben wallace slashing and giving one of the heat(sorry jerm, wasn't shaq) a facial... i love the quip at the bottom: "fear the fro, san antonio." number 3 was prince w/the two-hand putback(makes me wonder if that was prince's 1st putback ever... looked sweet... i stood up from eating dinner when i saw that one)

btw, creed's greatest hits is just a flat out awesome cd. i was lucky enough to get it during memorial day weekend at circuit city, when all their cds were only 9.99. came w/a dvd featuring all their music videos and 2 live performances, and the other was a music cd featuring all their number 1 hits(but i wanted "hide" to be on that cd, oh well). i love creed when i was growing up so much; maybe they were why i got so much started on trying to play lead guitar instead of just power chords. their songs were awesome, when everybody else's rock band was punk. at some point, i kinda gave up on creed b/c i was into the "christian rock" stage, but after awhile, you realize most christian rock bands can't play guitar at the mark tremonti level; maybe 12 stones, but they've gone downhill after the 1st album.

although, after listening to alter bridge, if you listen to creed, it feels a bit more shallow; withheld talent. like mark tremonti was holding back his full guitar potential. basically, i can play creed. i canNOT play alter bridge(hope to someday). i still love both bands though, and i'm glad stapp and the others split up; stapp became a christian, and tremonti produced better music; win-win situation.

+slightly more athletic starting 5 than the spurs; i think a lotta ppl take the athleticism of the pistons a bit for granted, thinking they use it all on the defensive end, but it's true, these guys can RUN the fastbreak. in fact, i enjoy watching their offense as much as their d. i could be stretching it by saying this as a pistons fan, but i think i've seen more alley-oops done by the pistons in a game than by any other team. pistons, in a lotta ways, end up looking like the kings with hardcore d.

disadvantages:
-bench... that's not to say detroit's bench isn't bad. but it certainly isn't the deep bench they had last year. they still kept some key pieces, such as lindsey and campbell, and picked up some nice additions like arroyo and mcdice. they just have no overall complete package in one single bench player that shows up every single night. the two they kept from last year are flat-out better defenders and their d always shows up every night, but they can't shoot well. i guess the main key is whether arroyo can play d.

-larry brown never ever shows any emotion other than "monotonous gameface"

of course, in the keys to win, i didn't say defense, for both teams, but you know it's true. pistons vs spurs w/o d would be like um, kings vs, um, kings. i just highlighted the main offensive key.

this has the potential to turn into an ugly matchup, due to the hardcore d, but i think defensive bball is just as beautiful as well-executed offense. winning bball is always beautiful to me. maybe it's just cause i love the shot block and the hustle play, but i think these things are so underrated and underappreciated by the average fan.

maybe i'm not giving rip enough credit for being a good 1-on-1 defensive player...

it's true that i consider him to be the worst 1-on-1 defender out of all the pistons' starting 5... my order would be something like ben, tayshaun, rasheed, billups, rip... granted, they're still a great defensive team, so rip has to be good in some manner, but i just really don't see it that way, after watching repeatedly superstar x blow by rip or shoot right over him, whereas get hampered by the long wings of prince, unable to drive or get a clear shot.

but to be able to contain wade and not give him any great looks, while still being flat out brilliant on offense(remember; lb doesn't care how many pts rip scores; he wants to see his assists, and rip handed out about 7), that's awesome...

let's not forget he's doing all this on a hurting leg(with tiger balm!). miller would be proud.

but maybe that's cause wade's not used to rip; i love tayshaun(actually i love all of detroit's starting 5, but definitely tay and ben are up there), but you never want to give good offensive players the same looks all the time; i guess after a while wade can figure out how to take apart billups, prince and lindsey.

if rip does this again in game 5 and detroit comes away w/the double-u, i will seriously be impressed.

and maybe pistons will enter the finals again, leaving the conf finals with the same words that al michaels said last year, "who was that masked man"

bh can do multiple HOD in mvc2(ie combo qcf+2k into itself) if he is the only one still alive and you use A1+A2 to activate the super instead of qcf+2k; doing it this way doesn't activate flying screen. good luck landing it though.

the infinite's also a waste bc you give more meter to the opponent than yourself, and it doesn't do more than 40% life. 1 loop ain't bad for hit confirm to inferno xx hod though.

and one of the things i've admired about brown is that he's almost always exclusively worked with the underdog all his life on the court, never with THE superstar.

what does it mean for jesus to have come in the flesh?

read hebrews 2:14

"Forasmuch then as the children are partakers of flesh and blood, he also himself likewise took part of the same"

jesus took on the flesh of the children; of fallen humanity! note that he did not take on the flesh of adam and eve before they sinned!

hebrews 4:14-16 states that because jesus was able to take on our flesh, yet never sinned, it meant that he was able to overcome the flesh on our behalf. after he died, he then ascended into the heavens to become our high priest. because of this, jesus is able to relate to us; we can come to his throne. we need no other mediators.

under the catholic ideals though, because mary was without sin, that meant that when jesus was borne, that he took on the flesh of his mother, not of us! do you see what this does? this states that jesus did not carry the same flesh as us, that he could not relate to us, and that he was never tempted by sin.

under the catholic rules, it therefore makes more sense to come to mary for intercession and forgiveness.

THAT is why those that believe jesus is the messiah will always believe that jesus came in OUR flesh.

timing of a pushblock determines how far you will end up when doing it; if you pushblock very late after blocking an attack, you will fly pretty far.

time it almost simultaneous with when you block an attack, and you will go almost nowhere.

i was chewing newly bought altoids sour cherry gum(it's better at the beginning, but when the sweetness fades away, it seems to suck; best gum i think is cinnamon gum cause of the spiciness), and it felt like after i was chewing for a long time, that it simply started to come apart in my mouth...

spit it out, and i see my tongue's coated w/white miniscule shreds.

and i saw a kid which clearly overdid the whole rubber bracelets thing... had like 4 on each arm... hey, i like those things too, but i clearly think you shouldn't have more than 1 on each arm.

and don't blink, but i think the spurs have finally shown the world how defensively lax the suns are...

i've never mentioned this really before, but one of the reasons why i like billups so much is because of the way he plays in-close on the offensive end. of course, i also admire his 3-pt abilities, and his good defense. but billups is probably the only point guard in the league, who, when he wants to take the ball in close and score that way, instead of using his quickness, BACKS THE OPPOSING POINT GUARD IN. it is seriously the coolest thing ever to watch. it dawned on me quite a while back after i suddenly realized why every in-game commentator was saying "billups is so strong" after he scores an in-close shot. the pistons, i think, are sorta that type of a starting five; all of them play their respective roles well; point guard-> sets people up and starts the play, shooting guard-> finishes the play, etc. but yet, the way each player is, creates a mismatch. besides listing billups, rip plays like reggie; he creates w/o the ball, unlike the other 99% sg's. tayshaun's so skinny, and so long, that's already a mismatch. rasheed can hit 3's. ben wallace is a lot smaller than the average center; small enough, that he has this speed element: he can pick up ai on the defensive end right at the inbound and draw a charge. pistons have got this awesome speed and power element going for them that a lotta teams simply lack. and did i mention; billups and prince post up more than rasheed and ben.

but like how i mentioned; i think if the nba continues next season, that a lotta teams will be very competitive; very few teams will suck; i predict maybe 2 or 3 which completely suck. of course, there's only 16 slots for the playoffs, but i hope you get what i'm saying. they're be about 5-6 GREAT teams, about 22 back-and-forth teams, and then 1-2 flat-out we-suck teams. and don't blink, b/c the warriors for once, look like the best bay area team.

we just gotta cross our fingers and hope the lockout does NOT happen...

i'm probably gonna be in some deep depressed funk until spring quarter ends...

5 science classes is not fun, esp when two of them involve intense complex chemistry equations... and when you should've been studying hard w/no laziness right from day 1. catching up's a bitch when you've got that many classes. i'm just hoping i don't repeat the same mistake next quarter, when i should literally have no excuse(i'll be starting w/a tape recorder from the get go).

the sad part is, i can't shake my laziness... it's still an improvement over last year, when i literally sat at the apt and just watched the pistons run all the way into the finals and then destroy the lakers, but considering the extra class, "just enough" isn't enough.

maybe i'll be able to put some space between what i have to catch up and what i've done during memorial day weekend, but until then, i've got a midterm to cram for; ugh.

so yeah, what i'm hoping for still stands; a matchup between the former nba champions for the nba finals

i'm tempted so much to go on and on about how the eastern conf finals are looking so good right now, but that's inappropriate to talk about right now.

a 30-4 run is pretty damn good. hell, it's SICKENINGLY good. and it's even sicker when you realize rick charlisle tried to spend all his timeouts in the 3rd trying to slow the pistons down, and it didn't work. the only shot scored during that run was by a goaltended shot from foster.

you know when the pistons bring out darko, that their opponents just flat-out suck.

i'm bored; this is from my kitchen to yours(careful; i eat a lot, but hey, leftovers solve your what-to-eat-for-lunch tomorrow dilemmas), if you don't know what new to cook, here's 2 of my fave soup receipes:

water(about 4 cups)
2 large potatoes, peeled and chopped
1 chicken breast, chopped
2 stalks celery, chopped
5 leaves romaine lettuce, chopped
1 clove garlic, minced
1/3 tsp salt
dried shallots

combine; from top to bottom in a pot; heating the water on high until boiling; then add each of the ingredients from top to bottom, stiring a bit, then waiting until the soup boils before adding the next ingredient. you can stop @the lettuce when it boils and then add everything else. that's it; one of my faves for "clean(non-really-greasy)" soup.

cooking oil
half onion, chopped
water(about 4 cups, plus more if the noodles suck up the water)
2 carrots, peeled and chopped
1 chicken breast, chopped
a BUNCH(dunno how much; handful maybe?) of chinese-style noodles
1 egg
5 leaves romain lettuce, chopped
1/3 tsp salt
1 clove garlic, minced
1 green onion, minced

heat pot @medium heat, then add about 2 tbsp oil; wait a bit, then add onion in; stir around for a bit until you feel you like the flavor(think of it as a sort of light sautee); add water, then carrots; turn heat to hi. wait til boils, then add chicken; wait til boils again, then add noodles; stir frequently until noodles are "hydrated." add the egg, and stir, but DON'T break the yolk. once it boils again, add lettuce. once done boiling, add the rest, stir and serve. probably my favorite noodle soup receipe, that i cook myself often.

try em, and lemme know how you like em. for me, it takes maybe 1/2 hour to cook, a little over half an hour to eat entirely. you can add more eggs for the noodle soup if you want to serve others. yea, i'm a beast at eating food sometimes. who would've thought the day i'd hear jerm say to other msm ppl "well, at home(davis apt) rich destroys us"

i should exercise more often, or once i pass age 25...

i saw for the first time, nature taking away another's life...

a stray duckling(not duck) was waddling along, then suddenly a crow comes down, picks it up by the neck(which i think killed it right there), then proceeded to fly a bit away so it could rip apart its carcass piece by piece... harsh, but such is biology, and life taking away life... oh, you cringe about it, but hey, we're meat eaters too. we just never see chickens and bulls as cuddly 80% of the time when they're on our plates.

and i also saw, what you could consider to be teenage ducks... they were grey all over, and when they tried to "quack," it came out more like "peep." but they were much larger than ducklings, so. figures they gots to be teens.

finally, i also saw baby squirrels, that's right. i think there was a mother watching over 1 in the tree about 6 feet above ground watching her other youngun pick away at a nut on the ground not too far away.

i love nature.

and i don't care that it's been raining a bit lately, even though this should be spring; i love drizzles, and besides, it helps keep my allergies down a bit :D

random tekken 3 tidbit, cause i just feel like posting it:

bryan's 1,2,1,2 combo is all guarenteed on counter-hit; how do some players hunt for it so succesfully?

well, on normal hit, 1,2 normally combos, but the 2nd and 3rd punch does not. the 3rd and 4th punch will naturally combo though. hence, the CH affects the 2nd and 3rd hit obviously.

so, just tap 1,2,1 really quickly and look for the 3rd hit; if it hits, press 2 immediately. (duurrr, wonder why i never though about that)

and 1,2,1 is only -4 on block; even if you finish w/the 2, it's -7; nothing guarenteed; however, the opponent can push for something with that advantage; no wonder i could never punish the opponent who does 1,2,1,2 repeatedly with bryan... i should throw instead.

other things of note:

hmmm... WS+1+2 is 11, but only -3 on block, and hits mid...

1,4,3 is safe on block, but 1,4 is not, and the 3 hits mid.

b+2,1 can be cancelled into sidestep

uf+4 seems safe...

ws+3 is safe, but just barely... fast though, as always.

unless if i read wrong, 3,2 gives +10 on BLOCK, are both mid hits.

woot! tayshaun, chauncy and ben all made the defensive team!

here's a question; should a player still make the defensive team if they're on a sucky or non-defensive team? cause i'm questioning whether kg should've made the 1st defensive team, as well as ak, considering how little ak played, and how the twolves were strictly mid-tier this year. you might question why billups made the defensive team at all, but he was able to give bibby problems when the two teams matched up, so... and at the very least, billups is a better defender than rip.

here's to prince making 1st defensive team next year... and possibly dpoy as well. that guy's just a beast. and so skinny too.

i have a feeling that after the eastern conference semifinals are over, either i'm gonna be HATING jerm, or he's gonna be HATING me... and our respective teams... oh yeah, eugene's also a miller fan... so, depending on what happens, i might be garnering some hate towards him, or vise versa.

such is living with a reggie miller fan(i'm not calling him a pacers fan, as the only reason he likes the pacers is because of miller), i almost inwardly look down upon jerm, because it almost seems like he can't really appreciate why the pacers are so good; i would mind jerm being a pacers fan less if he could really appreciate why the pacers are so good. not that you don't have your favorite players, but c'mon now...

but he doesn't, it's always "oh, reggie miller's so good! blah, blah..." yeah, so? kobe's really good. do you see what's going on in LA? lebron's REALLY good, do you see what's going on in cleveland? kg's so good, do you see what's going on in minnesota? miller has done a great job keeping the pacers afloat, but i don't think he's the sole reason the pacers have surprised so many this year...

but aside from the laudatory attitude towards miller, there's the history of the brawl and last year...

yeah, it's pretty much the kings and lakers of the east... i've always believed that... (they carry all the drama around and against each other... well, the fans do; i know sheed and j'o are very close friends...) the difference is both teams try to play the game the right way...(contrast that to the kings can't play d, and lakers have always leaned too hard upon their shaq and kobe) just the fact that the pacers are in the 2nd round without artest and j'o and stephen for most of the season shows a lot about the depth, the way they play the game on both ends, and how they don't lean too hard on their superstars... and reggie miller and rick charlisle both should be given a lot of credit for that(i'd say the coach more than miller). and the word superstar isn't even in the pistons' vocabulary; who's the pistons' best player? everybody... ben goes out... pistons start losing... rip goes out, pistons start losing... brown goes out, pistons start losing... billups goes out, pistons start losing.

so, all the hate aside, it's supposed to be a good matchup... pistons lost their bench, but pacers lost their artest... it's still an advantage to the pistons, b/c of my main man, tayshaun prince... let's see if pacers figure out a way to stop him. or rip :D

i've come to realize that sacrifice is a test of faith... much like how abraham was tested... the thought came to me during sunday's message... how much you give to the lord your god, this very moment, i think really determines how much you believe in god to fulfill his promise of "give, and ye shall receive." or his commandment that you need to present the best to your god. why's it that every christian always says the same stuff in college; "oh, let me settle down my life, and THEN i'll give everything." pastor danny said that all those friends of his who were pre-med who said that have yet to show it.

and we're not just talking about money... time is an issue too.

and this is difficult to swallow... it is for me... you're asking me to not put the time i spend with god on the backburner this quarter, despite me having to take 5 classes, all of them being science classes. but it tests my faith. it should.

something i learned this saturday at a special worship service on saturday(which was great btw):

interesting pointer: 1st time jesus asks peter whether he loves him, he uses the term "agape" to ask whether he loves him; peter responds with the love "phileo" an affectionate, but not unconditional love, ditto w/the 2nd time.
3rd time, jesus finally uses the term "phileo" to ask whether peter loved him; THAT'S why peter was hurt; some ppl think it's because he was asked 3 times, which somehow reminded him of his triple denial. that's quite possible, but this is also another meaning. it's as if jesus finally asks, "so this is where you admit you're at?" what's great is that, despite peter responding affirmatively, jesus still bestows the charge he gave peter after the 1st or 2nd time; take care of my sheep.

interesting pointer: sheep were taken care of in the past so that they could be USED; specifically for meat and clothing. that's what we have to become to others; when we take the term of proverbial christian sheep, we choose to sacrifice ourselves in order to serve others.

seen them all on campus this week... they're all beautiful... the male peacock i saw freshman year though is unbeatable... i've never seen shades of blue and green clash and marinate together so well... along some shades of gray... female peacocks are still rare finds though, so you gotta enjoy it while they're in front of you.

so i'm thinking, i saw a billboard for real life and campus crusade for christ, and it's saying "prayer at the flagpole noon, monday, tuesday, wednesday, thursday, and friday, rain or shine." and i'm starting to really think, yeah i'm just involved at msm, but what if we could turn this into a real blessing with all christian organizations at ucdavis gathering together at the flagpole every school day at that time to pray for this nation?(and there are a LOT... go to spac.ucdavis.edu and look up religious organizations, and don't see if what i've said is true) when prayer and unity amongst fellow believers gather together, i really believe, with our sincere hearts, god will make something to happen. what if? i gotta convey this idea to someone else... a revival could be sparked... and then there's howard, at intervarsity... what if i could hook up w/him sometime before the end of spring quarter and convey this to him?

i don't really hate the wizards...

but man, why you gotta break my heart arenas...

though i'm kinda hoping celtics win(against the pacers, dur), you gotta admire the heart that the pacers have been showing this entire season... though i'm a celtic fan and jerm's a pacers fan, i keep telling him that these two teams match up very well against each other... having it go to game seven is just great... the "rivalry" between these two teams has finally reached a point where you can say they're almost each other's equal(compared to the last two years)... of course, with artest, it's a different story, but who knows; maybe celtics will get a good off-season deal as well.

sonics and spurs IMO also match up well... both teams give each other problems...

when it comes to baseball/softball, i am down with playing it... but i have to be perfectly honest and state that i simply can't watch it... the game feels too slow. i can watch nfl football all day, and ditto with nba bball. but no dice when it comes to baseball/softball. and it's not helping that giants and as both look fairly bleak this season... (and i don't think the canaans guys who were former cal bears are gonna be happy that rodgers left for the nfl, and even then, that niners didn't pick him up) yea, who would've thought the best bay area team is now REALLY the warriors? :D

but back to the topic... msm's softball tournament on saturday was awesome... despite the fact that it rained spontaneously... our junior class ended 2-2, and either 3rd or 4th(didn't get to play the final game to determine what was our standing). murdered the youth group, even when the refs said we had to bat off-handed after we got rolling after a while to give them a chance. then we wanted to make sure we didn't carry the same cockiness into the game against the sophomores... however, we destroyed them too; 13-0. we did run into trouble against the korean ministry(think korean equivalent of canaan's old guys/fathers playing bball/whatnot)... however, at the beginning we came out rolling... 10-0 the 1st inning... i guess we just got cocky and our d dropped, and somehow lost the game. then we played against the defending english ministry and also got rocked... 7+ to 0. but it was fun, and for the college class in our fellowship which seemed to be fairly distant from one another, it was great for a change to finally be together and just root for each other and stuff.

and eunjoo is a beast...

maybe this'll encourage me to hit the arc for some weights during summer in my freetime... bicep boosts and what not could really help my hitting... or general sports usage stuff.

the nba playoffs are here... that is really great, but plz, if you're still in college, PLEASE get your work done first... and don't assume you have to follow your team every night for 2 hours straight... especially if you have 15 or more credits to take down... take it from me... i learned the hard way. you may have one team you like to root for, but please, look to get your studies down first. i can only look forward in jealousy to those young adults @canaan who work... maybe i have a dillusional viewpoint of work, but to be able to just come home and relax when the day's done, taking in all the nba games on cable instead of having to eat a quick meal and then go back to poring over the books and taped lectures til 11:00... that must be enjoyable... bob, correct me if this isn't true...

that said... aside from every other upper team rolling(go pistons, celtics and bulls!), i find it strange that rockets and ESPECIALLY nuggets stole the 1st game. but i'm sure duncan'll recover... although... he just came back, and the nuggets are just hotsizzle right now. said it before, will say it again... i love the eastern conference more than the west... except for warriors.

i'm sure jerm wishes that pacers and rockets make it to nba finals... dunno about jon, but i'm sure he wants rockets to rep the west. you all know who i'm rooting for... "the showdown of the two recent nba champs..." of course, i would want detroit to win this battle, but spurs, depending on how you see it, are all-around better... however, i would like pretty all questions settled, cause a lotta ppl were starting to think the lakers lost the series rather than detroit winning it, so why not go against the deeper, best team? (you could argue detroit beat the pacers on the way to the finals, which were record-wise the best team, so take that as what you may) the thing that sets detroit above though, is past jan 1st, they really were the hottest team, having the best record in the nba. take that what you may though; they were more like warm-hot, not sizzling hot. i predict on the playoff road, that ben wallace's defensive beast will get unleashed... it did last year... it happened last game.

oh yea; why i was really posting here... looks like i'm gonna be getting a job up @davis... it's not final yet, but i've heard that there's a davis biotech company up in davis that is always looking to hire... and they don't check your gpa(whew!)... so hopefully i'll try to get something genetics related and have my 1st try @a paid internship this summer... should be fun... i'll post more when this stuff becomes finalized. hopefully, i think i'll still be able to attend summer retreat, but i like the sound of how this summer's turning out. if you ever wanna visit me during summer, try to give me a heads up at least 2 days beforehand, so i can prep the apt.

ok, since summer is around the corner, i'd thought i'd eventually start posting about improving usa bball; the post was due about a year ago, but yea... this'll prob span the whole week in tiny little fragments, cause i don't want to waste too much time today; i've got more classes, a free breathing workshop i would like to attend(could help meditation practice, who knows), and then a midterm i desperately need to study for. plus, i gotta buy phil a gift today(i'll explain why i'm buying it directly on his bday and not earler, later)

what was the main problem with us bball last year? why did we win bronze instead of the coveted gold? there were, in the eyes of many, 3 main culprits; the players, the time slot, and the coaches. i'll elaborate on what i think is the MAIN culprit.

to those who thought larry brown was at fault: no... don't even go there. (i'll admit i might be slightly biased as a pistons fan, but hear me out) of COURSE amare and lebron and wade have all improved. so in RETROSPECT it was stupid to let those guys sit on the bench for extended periods of time. lebron has become an incredible shooter, and amare an incredible post player. wade has help from shaq, but don't let that cloud your eyes about how good of a slasher he's become. but let's think for a moment; could those guys shoot back then? no. i will say lb was at fault to bench lebron when he came off the bench on one of those games and gave a great effort, but most of the players couldn't shoot. duncan was more important than amare and all-around better, hence his more playing time. ai shot better than lebron during the olympics, if i'm not mistaken. and wade, being a pure slasher, just can't shoot. however, lb played wade the most out of all the rookies/sophomores. why? his defense. at the beginning of the olympics, wade just didn't seem to fit in. then i watched the lithuania game. wade was all over the place on d. now, of course he couldn't shoot, so lb had to balance his time with marbury's. but he seems to admire wade the most. there's other details, but i think aside from lb whining about how they should've given him more players or time, he did a great job; remember; it wasn't lb failing to make gold; if it weren't for the brilliant coaching of larry brown and greg pop, i think the usa wouldn't even get a medal.

players: yes, that's arguable. in fact, rightly so. but they weren't t3h suck either. since i'm trying to say this is not the reason why they lost, the main one, i'll list the pros of the players. wade was a great defender, despite not being able to shoot. duncan is arguably the best nba player in the league; despite the difficulties he suffered in playing international ball, we could make the argument that this team would not have gotten bronze were it not for him. let's not forget about ai either; on this team, he was surrounded with talent; so his shooting % went up. rj is a decent all-around player. lamar odom is also a very good all-around player.

so you're probably thinking, ok genius, what's the main problem? TIME. there, i said it. i don't care if you don't have kg duncan and shaq lining your 3's to your 5's. you can win with decent players; the detroit pistons showed it last year. so the key element is time. the more time you have to practice with your players, the better they gel together, know their strengths and weaknesses, and how to integrate into this team. for sure, the pistons chemistry wasn't formed overnight. neither were the spurs. and neither should the usa bball team be. a suggestion of mine is to form the usa team about 2 years, maybe 3 in advance. then, they have to get together to practice maybe once every 3 months. aside from summer; they have to spend summer almost together.

and let's not forget that nba atheletes are just paid too much. that has clouded the priorities of many. they forget what an honor it is to represent your country. because it seems too easy to win gold, that's why many just push the notion aside. go ahead and have some beef about why these then sub-par american ballers represented the us, but remember that they also had notions of marriage and winning a ring crap out of the way; they know what it's really about, and they were honored to join.

that said, it's not like we can't improve upon player selection. so next post, i'll put down what i think should be the players on the usa team. however, i want to emphasize the element of teamwork over stardom, so i'm gonna exclude all-stars, well, the TOP TIER DO-ALL ALL STARS like duncan, shaq, kg, lebron, etc. this area's kinda shady, cause i realize a lotta good atheletes are all-around or all-stars, but let's just say, we exlude those REALLY, REALLY GOOD ones. ones which are around the area of ray allen are fine. rookies are fine, etc. also, because pistons have no all-star and yet play together so well, i'm gonna have to exclude all of the detroit pistons(cause it's really tempting to just name their starting lineup as usa's starting lineup). and because we're talking about usa bball, no international players.

but just to give you a hint of what's to come, here's an impartial list of who i think would be good for team usa:
kirk hindrich, mike bibby, ray allen, larry hughes, andre iglodala, dwight howard, antoine walker, tyson chandeler, erick dampier, luke walton, alonzo mourning, brian skinner.

mull on that for a while... i'll post again thursday or friday on specifics.

did i mention i try to learn how to play basketball the most from watching tayshawn prince? maybe that's why i like him so much, cause i would believe that i have about the same type of build, and given who i usually play against, i have a slight advantage in height and wingspan, but disadvantage in weight. and he's left-handed :D

plus, he never really tries to do anything flashy(unless if you're counting the time vs twolves that he went behind the back to cross up troy or latrell before driving for the 1-handed jam, or if you counted yesterday's massive play against lbj which i am still getting shivers about *yea sure, keep telling them prince goes middle, and then watch what happens*), he just tries to do what's needed to go for the win, or what's effective. he doesn't even look to score first; he looks to defend his man as much as possible, then whatever else comes, comes. not a stat-sheet filler, but you know his abilities are strong all over; sometimes when i'm watching pistons play, i don't even watch where the ball is and i just watch how tayshawn guards his man off the ball. or what he does on the offense w/o the ball. it's like larry brown said on sunday, "a lotta rookies come into this league thinking about scoring... tayshawn thinks about winning." plus, it's kinda nice how he plays mostly low-post when he has the ball, as i tried to play that way even before i really started to like him... nothing fancy, just back them in, if you see an outlet, throw the ball there, otherwise go for the left mini-hook. i need to get my left floaters and hook shots down...

i'm hoping that if pistons get to the finals again and they win it, that tayshawn gets the mvp... would send a great message to everyone who plays bball.

i'm starting to think that i should pull the kjv vs niv research back til summer... i am really swamped with classes this quarter, and they're not easy classes either... they're all upper div science classes. obviously, finding out if the modern bible is loaded with fallicies is very important, but i can't risk it at the expense of my grades... i already have a kjv, use it as my only bible now, and summer is a load of freetime for researching purposes.

btw, uc davis is amongst the uc's where most students don't finish in 4... that's depressing...

indeed, they say that knowledge can't save you... but i beg to differ... it is when you don't know exactly what's up, but refuse to take the time to do your homework and get to the bottom of things as quickly as possible, as comprehensively as possible, as unbiasedly as possible, that when you end up in deep crap, well, it's your fault... like whether christianity is the truth, or whether the kjv bible really is the canon english bible, or whether the pope really is the antichrist. now the key in life is, to know exactly what issues to pursue, and which to leave alone. or more exactly, it'd be great to tackle all of them, but which ones matter more, and which ones can afford to sit on the backburner.

now that i've kept you in suspense for about 1 week, here's the answers

1.if you believed that god kept his promise...

turns out this did occur; around the middle ages, when an english bible was greatly needed for the masses, as a unanimous one did not exist yet, the great majority of hebrew and greek texts, regardless of time it was produced, were thoroughly examined by the greatest of biblical scholars, and found this: 95% of all of them agreed with one another; only 5% did not. GOD DID KEEP HIS PROMISE! the texts that were in majority of agreement were then pooled together, and then a greek text was written. this was called the "textus receptus." this text would become the basis for which was used to write the kjv of the bible.

if you believe the bible to be the pure word of god, then this is your book.

no other single bible version uses this method.

2.if you believed that god didn't keep his promise...

this method was also used; modern day biblical scholars(let's say, somewhere around the mid 19th century) decided that only the earliest biblical texts could be used; the earlier, the more accurate. they were able to find 2 biblical texts, which still remain the earliest than anybody else's, that exists(around 200 AD i would say? gotta go back and check). these two are named the vaticanus and the sinaicitus; the 1st was found in the Vatican, and lay in excellant condition, but was virtually unused for 1000s of years. it lacked MANY key christian doctrines. the sinaicitus was found in a wastebasket in a monastery at the base of mount sinai. it was reedited so many times and scribbled so badly that anybody staring at it could tell you that it was a bad job. both not only disagreed with most texts and lacked MANY verses, but also disagreed with each other. and yet... both were used to create all other bible versions that were NOT the kjv... niv, tniv, rsv, nlt, nasb, nkjv, etc.
furthermore, what did the scholars do when they came across a verse where both texts disagreed? they had an expert scholar pick what they thought was the right one. so in essence, you're not reading the word of god; you're reading what a scholar thinks is the word of god.

yes, what i'm stating down here is VERY contraversial. i am basically saying the kjv is the only english bible you should be reading. you may be thinking i'm nuts. you may be thinking i've been too gullible, and picked this up from some random joe's site. but we know something like this is not found on biblegospel.com. would never be. that's why i believe now it's my turn to research in the tradition of the skeptics-turned-christians. except now i'm travelling a road is even less clear-cut. evidence is truth, and once i compile enough and can safely say i've looked at the majority of what matters, i'll be able to determine the truth, whatever it is, and it'll set me free. but don't worry; jerm and jon are skeptical enough to keep me in check every step of the way.

only pray that i won't give up on this quest; most likely it'll take all of my spring quarter and maybe 1 year to more than 3. and that i don't lose sight of everything else in the persuit(grades, jobs/internships, spiritual life, etc)

yeah... jon and jerm are going along for this ride whether they like it not.

one thing's for certain though... no matter the outcome, i think i'll end up a changed man.

let's say you want to create the 1st mainstream english bible. the NIV, KJV, NASB, RSV, etc, has not been created as of right now. at this point in time, the printing press has not yet been invented, which means copyists of the bible ARE subject to some error, depending upon how careless they are. you have to be careful, as you know this bible will influence the rest of 20th century and beyond americans and englishmen. this will become the essential word of god(or word of satan, if this bible becomes corrupted). you have a variety of texts to choose from. cost is not an issue. how can you approach this? there are 2 ways in mind...

well, if you truly believe that god has preserved his word to always be with his people and not let it become corrupted over time(as stated in the scriptures), you could compare the majority of current hebrew and greek texts used throughout the world. you could gather the majority of the texts together that agree with each other. if one copy is false(ie does not match up with the other 95%), you assume it was a sloppy copy and throw it away. you pool together these scriptures that agree with one another, then use these as a basis for writing a new english bible.

or, if you truly believe that the word of god has become corrupted up to this point in time, that would mean you should look for the earliest manuscripts possible. these will be used for the basis of creating the new english bible. the fact is that there are too many factors that influence the bible, that we must simply choose the earliest manuscripts to ensure least amount of error. copyists are prone to error, and so, when all is said and done, it's better to look as far back as possible.

what would you do? think about it for a sec, and if you want, reply in the comments. or not. but seriously think about it. because this is what's really been preoccupying my mind lately. i'll post the results later this week. i already know what the answer is. however, it's more of a matter of research for me now to make sure all of this is true; this is why it's now my turn to do research on what i have never truly thought about before; this subject has popped up before for me; but i brushed it aside.

so, don't completely agree with this and say that the pope is the antichrist. don't believe fully that the roman catholic church is the antichrist's church. but... check yourself. cause it does seem that we exult the pope a bit. and don't you think it's weird that the majority of people would shun christianity and the church, but put the pope on this high pedestal? and think about this: the pope did get hit by a gunshot wound in the head, but recovered. so the speculation is that MAYBE the pope will come back from the dead, if he IS the antichrist?
now look; i'm not trying to point fingers just yet. nobody really knows who the antichrist really is. i don't know either. but it's highly believable, that since jews will take him as the messiah, that he could either come from a jewish family, or from a really highly powerful church. such as the roman catholic church.

+my car didn't crap out on the highway, and i didn't die, plus it still started after i drove home and turned it off, then tried to start it
-could not drive the car for 2 days because mom got work on thursday, then actually took the car to get it serviced on friday
+found a good speedo @costco, as well as a good set of gym shorts, which *surprise*, unlike my prev shorts, HAVE pockets
-found out i had to replace the clutch as well from the dealer
+got to drive it maybe 24 hrs before my mom gets freaked out after calling my bro
-bro tells my mom that a worn clutch makes a car undrivable, meaning i'll essentially crash on the highway if it's not replaced; mom freaks out and then tells me i can't drive the car til we get it to mr. huang's(from church)
+mr. huang takes a look for all of monday, then tells me the saturn guy was just overexaggerating; replaces the transmission oil instead, saving me from having to not drive around davis or bumming a ride to davis, either of which would've been a huge inconvenience
-missed monday jury duty and start worrying like crap
+called the jury commissioner's office, find out it's not a big deal, get reassigned to today when i actually got my saturn back, and then go to realize ALL full-time students more-or-less got excused from the case i got reassigned to(no jury duty calls for a year! woot!)

to be honest, i actually wanted to serve on jury duty to see what it was like, but not during college, as then there's a good chance my grades would drop... i found out it would take at least 2 weeks, and not 1... i thought they got done with everything in 1 week; wrong; they only select the jurors the 1st week, then get to work the 2nd.

oh yeah, and i played tekken 5 too; that's a great game. i like how the memory card thing works at the arcade. too bad no one was around to play me today, but that's alright; i just wanted some space to try some stuff and see how jin was; i would've tried other characters, but i didn't want to blow too much money this time around, and i had only done some hw on jin, not devin jin, nina(my 1st and best tekken char i can use in tekken 3, tag, and i would guess, now tekken 5), and heihachi; maybe next time i come back. jin's really cool, but he's really slow sometimes; like molasses. i guess namco finally heard all those guys who were bitching about jin being broken in the previous 2 tekken games, and finally fixed him, which explains his extremely slow speed. he's really powerful though, and looks like he's using actual shotokan karate.

they even now have a special console package(anniversary edition) for the ps2 version: a QUALITY hori arcade stick(hori's considered as one of the best arcade joysticks), tekken 1-3, AND tekken 5 all included for just $100. if you were to buy all of them separately, that'd easily be maybe 20+20+20+50+150

re: balance between thought process being governed with emotions and knowledge. well, basically, i've realized that when all is said and done, you are more likely to act on emotions than knowledge. why else would there be cases where people know what they should do, but are afraid to do it(ex: knowing jesus is king, but being jewish, and thus, afraid to proclaim it and stand up against the crowd)... now, because we can assume a lotta guys are knowledge-based and not emotionally based, i could say this is why a lotta guys appeared laid back(not a lotta emotions to spur them into doing something)... but know a lot and don't let a lotta things get to them. on the other hand, girls can be very diligent and stuff, but they'll let other things get to them as soon as possible, when there's no reason(or sound knowledge) to do so. and that's why i believe you gotta achieve that balance to do things right; enough knowledge so that you know what you're doing. and enough emotion to do the job wholeheartedly and as soon as possible. i'm tempted to write more, but that's the basic gyst of it, and besides, i'm not the author of "women are from venus, men are from uranus"

it's funny though; i see how a lotta personalities and other various ish gets carried into you from your parents, creating a sorta hybrid of the two. my dad was known for carrying a lotta stuff on the inside, making him very silent. but he was in love with always finding new stuff and discovering new things. my mom, on the other hand, is very outward a lotta times, worries a LOT about the most minute things.
i may not appear to be very worrisome on the outside like my dad, but i've come to realize i really do worry as much as my mother sometimes. and usually(pertaining to my observation about emotions and knowledge), i have to be REALLY fretting about time to start studying like mad(i'm trying to lay off it now more recently), or use anger to get myself to do something i really don't want to do, but know i must do. and though i'm not exactly AS nerdy as my dad, poring over all things scientific or engineering-wise, i still have that love for knowledge; all of my hobbies that i loved, i have STUDIED them... bball stats, fighting game strats, electric guitar(well, i'm starting to rekindle it), christianity... i don't know where i get all this anger though; maybe my mom?
athletic ability, i think i got my build from my mom. dunno exactly how athletic my dad was, however, it's more or less true that i got my dad's face, but my mom's build, while phil got mom's face(well, while he doesn't look exactly like her, he did when he was still a baby), and my dad's build(became fat like my dad was for a while), but phil always seemed to be a better athelete than me IN HIS PRIME, so i guess that means dad was more athletic than mom(he did serve a bit in the army in taiwan, but that was mandatory for all taiwanese youth); i'm all-over more consistent with being athletic though than my bro; not always gonna be "better" than him(though i think i am now), but i think i've never really been out of shape(can't say for sure though). he'll always have strength though; i'm just quicker.
and yea, one last note, is that i see that emotions really do put your actions into motion, cause when i utilize my athletic ability with sports, i usually try to use my anger to get myself to play harder; i may study up some, but all said and done, your knowledge has no time for contemplation and it has to become instinct; emotionally, it's not that i'm trying to get myself to want to kill or beat my opponents to hell, but it's like you're playing for that big play that will rile you up and put your opponents in their place, like a hard tackle in football, or a huge block in bball.

why's it that UCD's the only UC that does spring break w/a half week followed by a half week?

new thought of the week: thoughts determine your actions; so what determines thoughts? IMO, emotions + knowledge(not the same as wisdom), and though women are usually dependent upon the emotions part more and men upon the knowledge part, i think i've come to the realization that you need a balanced combination of BOTH to do what is right; i'll post more on this when i have time this week; i should be going to sleep early.

pray that i might be excused from jury duty.
